The Zone of Choice application window  is now open. Please encourage friends and family with eligible 8th graders to select Legacy VAPA as their first choice. I truly believe what we offer at VAPA is extraordinary and not available at most, if any, LAUSD schools. Enrollment information at be found on our website.

 Congratulations to our Legacy Girls Basketball Team who did a fantastic job in the City Championships on Saturday and who had a remarkable season!

 Congrats also to our Cheer Team who won first place in the Sharp Cheer Competition on Saturday.

 Congrats to our VAPA students who performed at the Eastside Arts Festival on Saturday including Jazz Choir, Jazz Band, Dance Team Mariachi VAPA, and the Cast of Aladdin.

 Congratulations to all of our Spring Sports teams who have started their seasons including Boys Volleyball who won their game Friday and the Legacy Swim who had their first meet of their second year on Friday.

We are in the Zone of Choice application season. Please spread the good news about our wonderful school. Information about the Zone of Choice including links to the application and information videos are on our website and social media platforms.

Congratulations to our Legacy Lady Tigers Basketball Team who have defeated all of the other teams in play-offs to proceed to the CIF City Section Championships on Saturday, March 3, at 1 pm at California State University, Dominguez Hills. VA big thank you to Coach E and his staff and all of the parents and supporters their support. Congratulations also to our Legacy Boys Soccer Team who are also in play-offs, playing the semi-final game against Venice High School at Venice this Tuesday art 3 pm. A big thank you to Coach Sanchez and his staff and all of the parents and supporters for their support. We wish them both the best of luck!

Congratulations to all of our student and staff performers who participated in our Second Annual Black History Month Celebration last Friday. We wish the best of luck to all of our performers who will perform in the Eastside Arts Festival this Saturday at Torres High School.

Hello VAPA Community! This is Dr. Trimis with a few announcements! There is no school on Monday and Tuesday is a shortened day.  Hola comunidad VAPA! ¡Este es el Dr. Trimis con algunos anuncios! No hay clases los lunes y los martes son días más cortos.

This is Black History Month and Friday we will have our Black History Month Celebration.

We wish all of our sports teams who are in CIF play-offs, the best of luck. Please come out and support our three play-off games at home this week, Girls Basketball Tuesday at 7 pm, Boys Soccer Wednesday at 3 pm, and Boys basketball Wednesday at 7 pm.

We are on our Zone of Choice application season when potential 8th grade students make their high school choice through the Zone of Choice application process. We have space for more students. Please spread the word to family and friends.

A reminder to students to be aware of new clubs, auditions, and other opportunities by listening to morning announcements, fliers on our bulletin boards, and checking our website and social media platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook which are linked on the website at www.vapalegacy.com

Hello VAPA Community! This is Dr. Trimis with a few announcements! Tuesday is a shortened day. ¡Hola Comunidad de VAPA! Este es el Dr. Trimis con algunos anuncios! El martes es un día acortado. This is Black History Month.

This Monday, we will have a School Site Council and Local School Leadership Council meeting on at 3:30 pm in Rm. D100. Please join us. This Thursday, we will have Coffee with the Principal at 9 am in the VAPA Lounge. Please join us.

As we move forward in the year, this week we see a change in our sports seasons as we congratulate all of our Winter Sports teams including basketball, soccer, and water polo, and wish them good luck in their upcoming play-off games, while our Spring teams including boys volleyball, tennis, track and field, baseball, and softball, are starting their seasons.

Congratulations our dance students who performed for the Chinese Arts and Culture Festival at East LA College Friday and our art students who were seen on ABC 7 Evening News on Friday at an event they attended at the Paseo Shopping Center presented by muralist and new VAPA partner, Kelsie Montague.

Progress Reports have been completed by teachers and will be sent home this week. This is a good time for students and parents to check-in with their teachers to be sure students have clear expectations regarding course requirements and what students need to do to be successful in every class.

After visiting local middle schools and hosting a Legacy Community Open House, the window for new students to enroll at VAPA through the Zone of Choice program is now open. Please encourage friends and family with eligible 8th graders to select Legacy VAPA as their first choice. I truly believe what we offer at VAPA is extraordinary and not available at most, if any, LAUSD schools. Enrollment information at be found on our website.

Congratulations to our Legacy VAPA Academic Decathlon Team who completed a year of intense studying and activities at Saturday’s final ACADECA Event, the Super Quiz. We are extremely proud of all their work and thank Coach Avalos and the parents and volunteers who helped and supported them as they prepared for the competition. Any students who are interested in joining the team are encouraged to see Mr. Avalos. Plans are already being made for next year.

This week we welcome Judith Hill for a concert during school on Wednesday for our VAPA classes celebrating Black History Month as part of our Spring Concert and Guest Speaker series. Thank you to the Arts Education Branch and Ms. Hill for providing the concert to our students.

Congratulations to our Legacy Girls Water Polo Team who completed their first ever season on Friday. Please support our Winter Sports as they conclude their seasons this week and move in to play-offs. We host home games in both soccer and basketball this week.

We wish the best of luck to our VAPA dancers specially invited to dance at the LAUSD Chinese Arts Festival this Friday at east LA College.

Lastly, we wish our Color Guard, now in their second season, the best of luck as they begin their competitive WInterGuard season this Saturday.

Hello VAPA Community! This is Dr. Trimis with a few announcements! Tuesday is a shortened day.

Congratulations to all of the cast and crew of Real Life: A 25 Year Musical Anniversary who closed their show on Saturday. In the audience were many VIPs including representative from the Arts Education Branch, the Foundation for New American Musicals, and cast members from the original 1993 production. Go to our website for information on the Original Cast Album and the DVD that are being produced.

Thank you to all who participated in the Legacy Open House on Saturday. Please spread the good news about VAPA as current 8th graders make their Zone of Choice school selection in the next few weeks.

We wish the best of luck to our ACADECA Team who had their first day of competition on Saturday. They also compete next Saturday to end their season. Please support our athletes as their start to finish the Winter Sports season and move to play-offs on the next few weeks.

Hello VAPA Community! This is Dr. Edward Trimis, principal of Legacy Visual and Performing Arts High School with a few announcements. Tomorrow, Monday, January 15, is a school holiday as we honor Dr. Martin Luther King. Tuesday is a shortened day.

Hola comunidad VAPA! Este es el Dr. Edward Trimis, director de Legacy Visual y Performing Arts High School con algunos anuncios. El martes es un día acortado.

 Please note we are continuing to focus on student success which includes on-track high school graduation, on-time attendance, and citizenship.  We will be rolling out a new attendance policy so please expect a summary of the new policy being sent home soon. Overcoming adversity, our theme this year, is examined in our upcoming original musical production of Real Life on January 25-27, where monologues from our students are merged with an original musical score. I hope you can join us at 7 pm for one of the shows.

 Lastly, we are in our recruitment season for Zone of Choice enrollment and are looking forward to soon adding a new magnet to Legacy VAPA High School pending school board approval, the VAPA Musical Theatre and Media Arts Magnet. We do have space so please assist us with our recruitment efforts.  We will have a Legacy Open House Event for prospective students on Saturday, January 27.

 We have lots going on in the next few weeks with several auditions, sporting events, and activities. Calendars are available in the office and all of the dates, schedules, and events will be on our website at www.vapalegacy.com along with our social media links.

Hello VAPA Community! This is Dr. Edward Trimis, principal of Legacy Visual and Performing Arts High School, wishing you a warm welcome to 2018 and making a few announcements. This is a reminder I will be sending calls out most Sundays at 7 pm. Tomorrow, Monday, January 8, is a regular day and Tuesday is a short day. All classes will meet tomorrow.

 Hola comunidad VAPA! Este es el Dr. Edward Trimis, director de Legacy Visual y Performing Arts High School, deseándoles una cálida bienvenida en 2018 y haciendo algunos anuncios. Este es un recordatorio de que enviaré llamadas la mayoría de los domingos a las 7 p.m. Mañana, lunes 8 de enero, es un día normal y martes es un día corto. Todas las clases se encontrarán mañana.

 I hope you all had a wonderful Winter break. We are super excited to continue the many wonderful programs we have at VAPA while we explore new programs and ideas including digital portfolios, piloted this year by our 11th graders and some 9th graders, Link Crew, The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People and the Leader in Me Program, and Educational Rounds. We will also implement a new attendance policy finalized this week and possibly implemented as early as next week. We will continue our VAPA theme th8is year of “Overcoming Adversity”. You will see the theme represented throughout the year in our classrooms, programs, concerts, and events. Weekly Announcements

Hello VAPA Community! This is Dr. Trimis with a few announcements! Tuesday is a regular day. Hola comunidad VAPA! ¡Este es el Dr. Trimis con algunos anuncios! El martes es un día normal.

This is our last of school before our Winter Break. The last day of school is Friday and we return on Monday, January 8. There will be no weekly announcements until we return in January.

 This week we will have finals on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, and we have a minimum day on Friday.

Congratulations to all of our wonderful dancers who performed in Winter Fest this past Friday and director, Mr. Sanna-Pickett. Congratulations also to our marching band, color guard, short flags, and cheer who performed in the Huntington Park and South Gate Parades over the weekend and also the Royal Steppers Dance Team who performed in the South Gate Parade on Sunday and thanks to all of our directors including Mr. Cuevas, Coach Brenda, Coach Adolfo, Coach Hilda, and Coach Andy.

Lastly, teachers and staff, there will be a required staff meeting for all teachers and staff this week on Tuesday, December 12, from 3:25 to 4:25 pm.
