Brian Worsdale is the new Conductor of the Three Rivers Young Peoples Orchestra. He joins Executive Director Lindsey Nova. Born in Brooklyn he will move to Pittsburgh to take on the new role as the eighth Music Director in the fall of 2018 when he will conduct his first concerts. In 1992, he would begin what would become a 26-year relationship with the Interschool Orchestras of New York. His longest association has been with the French Woods Festival of the Performing Arts in Hancock, New York. He has been associated with French Woods since 1992 and has served as the camp’s artistic director since 2010. Since 2015, French Woods has been home to The New York Pops and Friends side by side with the French Woods Symphony.

Rossen Milanov is the the Music Director of the Chautauaua Symphony and the Columbus Symphony. He describes the delights of the upcoming season at Lake Chautauqua with details on the Beethoven Festival concert July 21, WQED Day, and his personal bests for Chautauqua visitors along with remembering his ties to Duquesne University and some career highlights.

Roger Schneider is the founder of the Three Rivers Community Band Fetival and a euphonium virtuoso with the East Winds Symphonic Band. Susan Sands has conducted the band for 28 seasons. She will raise the baton Saturday afternoon at the Upper Saint Clair Elementary School April 14. They bring all the scoop on their colleagues and the music for the event with a Festival Band plus three guest bands.

Pianist, composer and University of Pittsburgh faculty member  Amy Williams will play the complete Sonatas and Interludes by John Cage with a prepared piano  using screws and nails and found items at Construction Junction in Point Breeze for the Pittsburgh performs series of Chamber Music Pittsburgh April 10, 7:30. Tenor Colin Aikins is from Pittsburgh and a senior at Central Catholic High School. He studies voice with Maria Spacagna at Carnegie Mellon University. He was selected as a National Young Arts Finalist and recently participated in YoungArts Week in Miami. Colin also won first place in the High School Classical Division of the 2017 Classical Singer national competition and received a scholarship to the University of Miami Frost School of Music Salzburg Festival. Colin’s favorite musical experience has been performing in nursing homes. He also enjoys participating in his school’s crew, swimming, and track and field teams, as well as musical performance clubs. He tells us about his singing career that has taken him to the top in music competitions including Salzburg Austria and resulted in an April 2018 appearance on From the Top with Christopher O Riley. Now he must decide on whether it’s Juilliard or the Curtis Institute for further study.

In honor of the 50th Anniversary of Mr Rogers Neighborhood. Rev. Dr. Christine Chakoian Vice President for Seminary Advancement at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary discusses Fred Rogers long relationship to the Seminary as a graduate.  She suggests where he got the idea for the Neighborhood and how his training as a Presbyterian Minister shaped his thinking and work. A room at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary will be named in Fred’s honor. Rev. Chakoian describes the work and history of the Seminary and her books and work in Illinois and at Yale prior to arriving in Pittsburgh in 2017.
