The Grammy and Cleveland Quartet Award-winning Parker Quartet makes its Pittsburgh Chamber Music Society debut. Daniel Chong, first violinist of the young former quartet-in-residence at CMU, previews their Nov. 18th program of Mendelssohn, Schulhoff and Shostakovich.

Jeffrey Turner conducts his Duquesne University Symphony Orchestra on Nov. 17th in a concert featuring the "Emperor" Concerto by Beethoven with pianist David Allen Wehr, and the Symphony #2 by Sibelius. Mr. Turner talks about what he hears in Sibelius and how he trains his orchestra.

PIttsburgh's Reed III Trio plays a program of "Discoveries" including unrecorded lyrical 20th century works by Anton Szalowski and Fernande Decruck, and premieres by Pittsburgh composers Luke Mayernik, Blake Ragghianti and Christine Burke.

Music Director Betsy Burleigh conducts a free concert as Rodef Shalom presents the Mendelssohn Choir in the sanctuary on Nov. 11. Cameron Knight plays demolitions expert Ned in Jez Butterworth's darkly-comic Parlour Song, staged by Quantum Theatre. A veteran of regional theaters and Shakespeare festivals, Knight teaches acting at CMU. Boos chose a venue at the Waterfront to mirror the play's civilization-on-the-edge-of-wilderness vibe.
