In this episode, Safiya Mukhamadova introduces to me the so-called 'Alt-Right', just days before they would gain infamy as the mass of people that marched with torches in Charlotesville, USA. This "surplus value of a society that has the privilege to talk about such things" (obsessions of race, gender, purity, ethnicity, etc...), both the 'alt-Right' and the Regressive Left (Black Lives Matter, Feminist Frequency etc...)have become firecrackers at the end of each wing of the political spectrum. However, the conventional conception of 'Left & Right' as two ends on a horizontal line spectrum may need to be re-thought-- as a horse-shoe (which I clearly have a hard time remembering what that shape is.)

The biggest events of this month were the tours of Katy Perry, the release of Kesha's new LP "Rainbow" (which she thought would never see the light-of-day due to legal troubles), and a new trend in pop toward Americana-inspired sounds, exemplified by Miley Cyrus' current era. Her third single, "Younger Now", with an outstanding video is also featured as our best pick. EDM seems too deeply rooted and popular to be seen as a fad, but will popstars now be piling up to sound 'rootsy'?? We must wait and see!

Double doses of Safiya Mukhamadova's teachings on the same day!

In our winding quest through the Abrahamic traditions, we land on the New Testament, Christian book, the Gospel of Matthew. As Safiya's states, many of the stories and characters are lifted from the previous gospel, that of Mark, and Herodias, Salome, Mary Magdalene, Mary (Mother of God), and the Sisters of Jesus are present; However, there are new women, quite 2-dimensional in their presentation, and have "very troubled relationships with men": Rahab, Tamar, Bathsheba, Ruth, Wife of Pilate, and the Mother of Zebedee's Sons

Safiya Mukhamadova returns for the 5th installment of the Women of The Abrahamic Tradition series...and we have finally reached the New Testament/Early Christianity! This is Best New Musick for July 2017. We have now passed the height of the summer season in the northern hemisphere, and have begun the slow lurch toward the end of 2017. In July, we witnessed the victorious re-emergence of Kesha (sans Dollar sign), wonderful Electropop produced by Mainstream EDM Djs paired with mainstream popstars, and some absolutely hilarious parodies of recent Katy Perry singles, as well, of course, along with some absolutely horrific Hip-Hop I discovered on the annals of the internet.

In this entry, written in 2015, I begin to grapple with the fact that Donald Trump was becoming more and more seen as a viable 'leader;' How people began to take him seriously; His worth and the worth of the American formal-Democratic system.

In this column from 2014, I react to then-FOX News' Megyn Kelly's comments regarding police killings of civillians in the United States, plus her bizarre assertion that the mythical figure Santa Klaus was 'white,' as well as her particular position within the network. 2017 Update included.
