It's the biggest party of the summer! On this episode of Music of the Mat, Andrew is joined by Sean Flynn as they tackle a selection of SummerSlam PPV theme songs. Andrew and Sean discuss their respective first SummerSlams, the evolution of the show's themes across time periods, and one of the stranger subjects for a wrestling pay-per-view theme that you'll find. Artists played include AC/DC, Cee Lo Green, Rush, Demi Lovato, and more!

Welcome back to Open the Voice Gate - Rewind and Rewatch, where Case (https://twitter.com/_inyourcase) and Mike (https://twitter.com/fujiiheya) are Rewinding and Rewatching the Dragon Gate USA era of shows.

The Second Anniversary has us roll into the NYWC Sportatorium for “Uprising 2011” on 6/4/2011, but before that, Case and Mike have to dip into Japan to catch everyone up to speed on what’s happening in Dragon Gate. It’s Dead or Alive and King of Gate time for DG in 2011, with a ton of turns and formations as are in the first days of the then named “Mochizuki Army” that will very soon become Junction Three and there’s a TON to cover to get to Second Anniversary Weekend.

With that done, Case and Mike review “Uprising 2011,” an underwhelming affair that officially concluded Akira Tozawa’s excursion and the last show before “Enter the Dragon 2011.” Highlights of the show include A.R. Fox’s first big singles match in DGUSA against Akira Tozawa and a special three way freestyle match between the three best flyers at that poin in the Dragon System, PAC vs Ricochet vs Rich Swann!

The show review starts at 00:56:39

This week on Wrestling Omakase we review the third week of NJPW Strong and the King of DDT finals, plus look ahead to a big week for New Japan with the KOPW 2020 first round at Korakuen and a major show at Jingu.

The Wrestling Omakase Patreon is the best mix of modern puro & historical coverage your five dollars can buy. Head to http://patreon.com/wrestlingomakase where you can listen now to six exclusive 5 Matches episodes that you can’t find on the free feed (including our latest episode with Garrett Kidney from just a few days ago, covering possibly the last truly great WWE match of this era, the start of the AJ-Naito trilogy and three of the most memorable TNA matches of all time for, uh, very different reasons!). Plus you’ll get access to four episodes of tournament coverage for the 2020 King of DDT and Tokyo Joshi Princess Cup, our series covering every Naito-Ishii match in history (up to episode 6 now, covering their match from the first round of the IWGP US Title Tournament in 2017), ANIME OMAKASE~! and a whole lot more. You can get access to all of our bonus audio for only $5 per month, so sign up today!

John is joined by returning guest and VOW contributor Jeff (@jeff_andrews21) as they start off with New Japan and another really fun edition of NJPW Strong. They discuss the finals of the New Japan Cup USA tournament and the start of some new feuds heading into the next Fighting Spirit Unleashed tour. Then they preview some upcoming shows back in Japan, talking all four first round matches in the KOPW 2020 tournament (and why people have kind of lost their minds on this), and then an exciting card for SUMMER STRUGGLE in JINGU. Afterward they turn their attention to DDT for a full review of the King of DDT finals from Korakuen, talking all three tournament matches as well as some surprisingly fun undercard tags. They speculate on whether or not Kenny Omega will actually be able to make it into the country for a planned showdown with Tetsuya Endo at Ultimate Party and how that might go if he does. Finally, they wrap things up with a quick look ahead to DDT's next Korakuen on September 7th and the three confirmed matches.

The ThunderDome Era of the Coronavirus Era is upon us. How much will it cost WWE? I don't know. How much will it eat into WWE's profits? We'll get an idea soon. How hyped is Kevin Dunn about drone cameras? Very.

As AEW is bringing ticketed fans into Daily's Place, we consider where Japan was with COVID-19 when New Japan decided to bring fans back into venues.

Who's a draw and why is it sometimes a bad question? All that and more.
