From there, it’s time to talk about the events that led to the launch of Michinoku Pro, the first ever promotion in Japan based outside of Tokyo. Case and Mike discuss the early career of Great Sasuke including his starts in wrestling, the New Japan Training School, frustrations with Universal and his fateful tours of Mexico in 1991 and 1992. From there, Case and Mike set the scene with Atsushi Onita vs Ryuma Go, the status of the Japanese Economy and the first steps towards Universal’s downfall that encouraged Sasuke to found Michinoku Pro. They discuss the “fake start” of 11/27/92 before the official launch show of 3/16/92 in Yahaba, the huge show close angle, and the follow ups the next day in Ninohe on 3/17/92.
