Voices of Wrestling Podcast Network

After a week off, the Voices of Wrestling flagship podcast returns in a big way as Joe and Rich go wrestler-by-wrestler and break down the first seven nights of NJPW's G1 Climax 27 — who has looked good, who our MVP of the tournament is, block scenario and much more. Additional topics include WWE Battleground, Dragon Gate's Kobe World, the debut of a brand-new segment and all the New Coke/Coke II/Coke Zero Sugar discussion you can possibly handle.

Special thanks to our sponsors Dollars Shave Club (http://dollarshaveclub.com/voices) and ZipRecruiter (http://ziprecruiter.com/vow)!

Two weeks ago we brought you a crash course into men's puroresu, and now this week on Wrestling Omakase we're back to talk the other side of the coin: Japanese women's pro wrestling, also known as joshi! John is joined by Alexandra (@NOAHs_Savior) of Wrestling With Words and the Ringside Revolution podcast, and Sean Williams (@STARDOMProject ) of the STARDOM Project blog & STARDOM reviews for the official English We Are STARDOM site. Together the three go on a deep dive of the current joshi puroresu scene. First we really get you up to speed on the three biggest promotions, Ice Ribbon, STARDOM, & Sendai Girls! We go over a ton of the biggest names on all three rosters (plus the big freelancers and gaijin too) and introduce you to who the major players are, talk about the current champions, recommend recent matches & shows, and more! After that's done, we talk a ton of the smaller joshi promotions; everything from Oz Academy to WAVE to Tokyo Joshi Pro to much more! This is a great introduction to the vibrant world of current joshi, and if you've ever wanted to get started or learn more about it this is the podcast for you!

Oli and Robin are your hosts for an abbreviated episode where they discuss this past weekend's XWA show which they both attended which included the monumental Daisuke Sekimoto vs. Keith Lee match. They also run down the upcoming big OTT National Stadium WrestleRama show.

YeaOh! In this episode of Music of the Mat, Andrew is joined by Chris Novembrino (Lucha of the Hidden Temple, Don’t Worry About the Government) to discuss the theme history of “The King of Strong Style” Shinsuke Nakamura.

This week's Wrestling Omakase focuses primarily on Big Japan Pro Wrestling's biggest show of the year, the annual Ryogokutan show from Sumo Hall in Tokyo, and as such we have two passionate BJW fans on to discuss it! Regular host John is joined by Brennan Patrick (@bren_patrick), Burning Spirits co-host/VOW writer and longtime Twitter puro mainstay/one of the most knowledgeable Western BJW fans out there Jesse (@K0jiii), as all three give a full breakdown of the entire 10-match show! Plus if you've ever wanted to get into BJW the three give a ton of tips and background information that you'll probably find invaluable to begin your journey! Hear us discuss everything from the big boys of the strong division (and Hideki Suzuki's mat stylings) to the new junior heavyweight division to the gruesome deathmatch division. After the BJW talk is over, we shift to Wrestle-1, which just wrapped up their annual Grand Prix tournament and have begun building toward their biggest show of the year in Yokohama at the beginning of September. We talk all about why you should give this small, young promotion another chance if you've passed them up before, discussing the big changes they've made in 2017 and how all the storylines have played out so far. Don't miss an informative and unique discussion on two great Japanese wrestling companies, this week on Wrestling Omakase!

Episode #1 of the Five Star Match Game features a monumental trivia showdown between Rich Kraetsch (Voices of Wrestling) and Alan Counihan (DKP, Fighting Spirit Magazine)!
