The Voices of Wrestling flagship podcast tackles last weekend's epic NJPW G1 Climax finale highlighted by the ascension of Kenny Omega as a top star in both New Japan and the world. We discuss his meteoric rise over the weekend, if he had the best weekend in wrestling history and, oh yeah, Hiroshi Tanahashi and Kazuchika Okada had a five-star match last weekend too. We then break down the entire G1 Climax 26 Final show including an awesome NJPW vs. NOAH tag match and brawl and wrap up with a discussion on potential title matches until Wrestle Kingdom. The last half of the show focuses solely on this weekend's festivities with previews of EVOLVE 66 and EVOLVE 67, Ring of Honor Death Before Dishonor, Super J Cup, NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn II and, of course, WWE SummerSlam 2016.

We thought we'd be talking this upcoming weekend's big WWE events in SummerSlam and Takeover, but some breaking news takes the #1 spot on this week's STR: Paige and Alberto Del Rio have been suspended for 30 days for a violation of the WWE Talent Wellness Policy. Jeff recklessly speculates on coincidences vs conspiracies. Plus, Takeover & SummerSlam previews, and Cody Rhodes returns to the ring. Support our sponsor and earn a $500 bonus by driving with Lyft! Robin and Oli are here to preview Uprising and give some lip service to some of the smaller promotions across the UK who are doing good things, in what was initially intended to be a mini-episode. But then a bunch of BritWres news drops as we were recording, so live reactions are included.

We agreed that WWE TV wasn't that great this week. Stars were missing, and Cesaro and Sheamus were oddly placed in the Raw main event segment. We discuss why. Plus, Christian Rosenberg of Afterbuzz TV joins to talk the other ongoings of WWE. Oh, and Sid didn't win the 1992 Royal Rumble. Rob is sad. In this week’s edition of the New Japan Purocast, we continue our ongoing coverage of the G1 Climax 26 by reviewing the 8/6 show from Osaka and 8/7 show from Shizuoka. We also give our predictions for the finals, which will take place on 8/12, 8/13, and 8/14 at Sumo Hall.

Better late than never. VOW returns with a break down of the G1 Climax, before Joe gushes over the fantastic build to a SummerSlam show that looks like a Show of the Year on paper. After that, it's over 100 minutes of listener questions answered, as Joe gives hot takes on everything from Hideo Itami, short IWGP title reigns, bad first dates, obsessive sub tweeters, Lucy Liu, the brand split, and his troubles with Pokey Man Go.
