From the top of the programming, KSLICE was back in the booth with an alternative blend of hip-hop, jazz and electronic sounds, easing us into the morning.
Joining the show was Estère, a multidisciplinary artist, producer and DJ of Cameroonian and New Zealand heritage, now based in London. Moving fluidly between electronic production, R&B, Afro-fusion and experimental textures, she’s built a world rooted in storytelling, performance and a deep sense of identity.
With stages shared alongside Grace Jones, Erykah Badu and Hiatus Kaiyote, Estère’s practice stretches far beyond the music, into community, creative exchange and creating space for others.
KSLICE caught up with Estère around her latest release Corduroy Jeans. The conversation opens out into immigration, resilience, identity and belonging, alongside some of the community-focused projects and creative spaces she continues to build.
