Exploring the sounds of the south Asian diaspora, we’ll be listening to a mix of new and old music across numerous genres!

As per tradition, January’s show is an hour of relaxing dubbed out goodness, blending Ambient, Dub Techno, and Electronica, perfect for that journey home.

1-hour mix blending minimal and micro house with jazzy elements, groovy rhythms, and intimate, muted atmospheres.

For his first show of the year @thoughtsonelvis invites Australian DJ Polloi into the mix. Following a move from Melbourne to London, Polloi is looking to hit the booth running - on the 16th he’ll be making his UK debut at the historical KOKO electronic. Here’s a teaser of what you can expect x

Juan San Lucas is a DJ and producer born in Ecuador, raised in Genoa, where he fell in love with Northern Italy's illegal rave scene as a teenager. Production came first. He got himself a Korg Electribe MX and started making beats with friends. DJing came later. And when it did, it had to be vinyl. Eleven years now, he’s still digging on Discogs, still refusing to take the digital route.

In 2014 he moved to London "just for the summer." He never went back.

They talk about how London changed him. Working at Ministry of Sound and slowly falling for house music, a genre he once thought wasn't his vibe. The moment COVID became a turning point. Why he asks for pictures of the decks before every gig. And what happens when you have to call your girlfriend to save the day and bring your turntables to the club.

That conversation comes about 45 mins in. Before then, Paperplane showcases some of his favourite recent digs. And after, Juan's guest mix moves between the worlds he lives in: the groove and the drive, the warmth of the weight. Expect quality house music that hits different when someone's playing it because they mean it.
