Volume Tonight

A full rundown of what's happening this week (Jun29-Jul05) at Volume Bookshop & Studio and beyond, here in beeaauutiful downtown Buckhannon, WV.

In what is, ironically, the loudest episode of Volume Tonight, authors David J Hardie and Tony Breeden discuss (amongst other things of that nature) cryptids, Mothman, the Flatwoods Monster, and the legend that is Grey Barker.

A wee tribute to the fun we had on the second annual UFO Day, featuring some of the voices of people who told us their UFO/Cryptid stories. Thanks to all who contributed!

Writer and poet and editor and artist and poem collator and former journalist Melissa Toothman joins us for a chat about her poetry collection "So They Can Hear You" and the Appalachia Spark Writers' Guild. Yeah, GUILD!

"So They Can Hear You" is available to purchase through Volume Bookshop & Studio: So They Can Hear You – Volume Bookshop & Studio, LLC

Doug Van Gundy, director of the low-residency Master of Fine Arts at West Virginia Wesleyan College visited Volume Bookshop & Studio earlier this year to host this symposium about the fascinating new book "Chaos Creativity Completion, New Approaches To Writing and ADHD", Doug shares his own experiences with ADHD and undiagnosed autism in this recording from early June 2026.

The good doctors discuss the history behind what it took to create Buckhannon's first UFO Day this Saturday (June 27th) and what might be expected - or unexpected - when things get going this year!

Volume Bookshop & Studio will be collecting UFO-related stories, both non-fiction and fictitious, during UFO Day. If you've been abducted, or if you want to come and spin an alien yarn, our doors are always open and our microphones are always hot!

"It's all fake" they say, but it's not fake for Perch the bear. Perch loves wrestling, never moreso than when his dad takes Perch to his first live wrestling show.

FIrst-time author Shawn Pugh brings a fun story with plenty of action in the squared circle but also a story of the bond between Perch and his dad in a fun environment where, eventually, the good guys always win.

As the pilot episode wraps up, we lose a player but gain an additional ten questions to solidify the winner's place in history as Masters Of Trivia (pilot).

This experimental trivia show was produced for and recorded in the Volume Bookshop & Studio. If you have any (constructive!!) comments or suggestions about the show, please do share them with us so the next Trivia night can sound even better. volumewv [at] gmail.com.

Episode three of three.

What's happening at Volume Bookshop & Studio and the surrounding areas on the week of June 22nd - June 28th 2026.

The Dungeon Crawler Carl series has become a runaway hit for author Matt Dinniman. With talk of a Seth MacFarlane-produced TV series on the horizon, a cluster of graphic novels, and an incredibly well-received collection of hilarious audiobooks, it's a pop culture one-man-and-his-talking-cat phenom that's not going away any time soon.

Volume Bookshop & Studio co-owner and Crawler Nicki Bentley-Colthart talks about the sensation that started with a man in heart-flecked boxers somehow surviving an alien invasion. She also previews the awesome Dungeon Crawler Carl live event that's happening inside Volume Bookshop & Studio this June 26th at 7pm. Be there, or I WILL KILL YOUR MOTHER!!!!!!

Tickets are $15 and available through EventBrite: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/volume-extreme-dungeon-mayhem-tickets-1988213526178
