Everything is cloudy and dark, even though my eyes are open. I can see the light ahead of me but I can't seem to get any closer. I taste blue. I feel the heat. Perchance, I dream.

Time has no meaning here. Things from the past mix with things from the future. I lose track of who gave me what, why, when. I take a step, the light just out of reach. The Rain starts, but the fire doesn't go out. It can't go out.

A man appears from time to time. He seems surprised, but not that I'm here. Instead, it seems like he's surprised to be anywhere at all. He scowls at me, walking in circles around me as I struggle towards the light, but I can tell he means me no harm. He's just curious, just as confused as I am. His shoulders are turquoise, and mine are blue.

One day — though "day" has no meaning to me, the Man Who Does Not Sleep — I find denizens of this place. They are putting on a play. In it, conspirators are plotting the death of a ruler. A truck explodes. The light stays out of reach. I see something flying in the cloudy sky.

The light seems closer now. At first, I think it's a trick of my eyes. But I'm sure of it. I can almost reach it, can almost feel the brightness in my fingertips. A burning woman watches me. Her flames are a different color than mine, and I feel the blue boiling away on my tongue. It's a phantom pain, an empty spot where sensation should be. Sometimes I forget about it, only to startle when I feel the not-heat, only to remember the flames don't burn.

The day I touch the light began with screaming. I am strapped into a seat with the noise behind me. I can turn and look at it but I can't do anything to make it stop. We're moving, the scream and I, forwards, stopping and starting. I wake up. It is hazy, but the light is there, bright, within reach.

I let it fall across my fingers, across my face. It speaks to me.

"Hello, this is Voyenture Time..."

You remember those days when you would go to a department store with your mom and go explore and hide in the circular display of clothes and pretend that you are in a cool hideout cave but then you realize that your mom has continued shopping and you have lost sight of her and then you, in a panic, explore the store looking for her and then you run into a force field and go into a coma and then meet 3 old people who put you through a trial and at the end they say the whole trial was meaningless and then everything dropped to greyscale you have to confront Lorraine The Lipstick Chicken but then you realize that you were actually lucid dreaming and you give yourself bird feet and then a bunch of fears come out of your belly button to fight a giant worm?

No? Just me?
