It can seem like data breaches take place all the time, so it’s easy to tune them out. In the past few years we’ve seen major hacks at Yahoo, Marriott Hotel, Equifax, and Sony — just to name a few. Capital One joined that list earlier this week when the credit card company announced that the FBI had arrested an alleged hacker who reportedly stole the personal information of 100 million Americans and six million Canadians, including around one million social insurance numbers.
