  • From Football Coach to At-Home Dad Blogger with Joseph Fowler

We are joined this week by former University of Kansas and University of Miami football coach, mastermind behind the Chasing Everyday Adventures blog, husband, and dad to two Joseph Fowler!

Joseph traded in his whistle to be an At-Home-Dad once he knew he was going to have his first kid and has been rocking the roll ever since. His wife is a Senior Associate Athletic Director and Senior Woman Administrator at Army West Point, so you know he stays busy! We have a great talk with Joseph about how to be involved with your kids in their “headspace” and lives and the importance of really engaging with them on that level.

Joseph is incredibly open about his own journey with cracking into his headspace and the power of being able to recognize when we need help, and his Today’s Dad definition reflects that! Everyone can relate to this episode in some form or fashion, especially in our current situation with the coronavirus.

A big thanks to Joseph for joining us on the pod!

  • Coronavirus - Cutting Through the Bullshit with Dr. Ryan Redman

We have a Wake. Dad. Drink. Repeat. special episode on coronavirus with our good friend, and Today’s Dad, Dr. Ryan Redman joined us to help answer questions and cut through the bullshit about what is really going on with coronavirus.

Look we all know there is a lot of information available to us right now, and that's a good thing, but there are some really important facts that everyone needs to know and some good practices that we should ALL be implementing. We can’t promise we covered all of them but this episode is a great starting point.

We hope this episode helps to calm some of the anxiety around coronavirus and its impact on your family and lifestyle, but also hope that it leaves you understanding how serious things are and the importance of social distancing so we can flatten the curve and ultimately save lives. Thanks to Dr. Ryan Redman for taking time to join, and to all our health care providers for being on the frontline of this battle.

  • Zoos, Snakes, Kayaks, and Parenting with Flexibility with Phil Colclough

We are joined this week by Phil Colclough! Phil is a dad to two, a husband, an outdoor enthusiast and the Director of Animals, Conservation and Education at Zoo Knoxville. We sat down with Phil at Hexagon Brewing Co. in Knoxville, TN to add his Today’s Dad definition to the mix.

Phil talks with us about sharing his love of the outdoors, whether it's kayaking, camping or exploring, with his family and gives his take on how to introduce and share your passions with your kids. Phil and his crew have so much fun playing in the outdoors, and do it in comfort, it certainly made us jealous we don’t get to join in the fun!

His Today’s Dad definition is about flexibility. Everyone one of our kids is unique so we can’t parent them the same as the next. We have to be flexible in how we raise them and teach them to be flexible as they move through life, trying new things, and discovering what their calling and passions are. A big thanks to Phil for joining us on the show, and to Hexagon Brewing Co. for letting us record at their place and keeping us hydrated!

  • UFC: Scott ‘Hot Sauce’ Holtzman - Gettin’ It While the Gettin's Good

UFC Lightweight Division Fighter, Today’s Dad to an almost 2 year or 20 month old (you’ll get the joke once you listen), and hot sauce enthusiast Scott “Hot Sauce” Holtzman joins us for this week's pod!  We sat down with Scott after his most recent fight, and win, for a talk about his Today’s Dad definition, and what life as a dad who is a UFC fighter is like!

Scott talks with us about how his mentality around fighting “adjusted” once becoming a dad and why his role as a dad is his favorite job. We dive into the life lessons and teachings that sports have helped to teach him, the importance of male role models (especially when you don’t have a father figure), cubicle work life, how he became Hot Sauce, and how UFC fighters put their kid to sleep, and so much more!

Scott’s today’s dad definition goes deep, like his buddy Scott Stalling’s did, but the big takeaway is how a Today’s Dad does whatever it takes to get the job done. We know you will enjoy this episode! A big thanks to Scott for taking time to come on the pod and share his story!
