According to scientists from the Australian National University, the current drought is officially the worst since European settlement.

Luke Grant talks to fourth-generation butcher Anthony Puharich, who owns Vic’s Meat, who says the drought’s had a “huge impact” on increasing meat prices.

“Meat prices are out of control. You have to prepare yourself to eat less meat if you want to eat the same good quality.”

Michael is joined by Rex Patrick, Centre Alliance Senator for South Australia, who has called out Christopher Pyne for taking a private sector defence position.

Mr Pyne, who was defence minister until the May 18 election,  revealed he has taken a job as a defence consultant with multinational business advisers EY.

But senator Patrick has called on PM Scott Morrison to reprimand Mr Pyne for taking the position, which he argues breaches the Statement of Ministerial Standards which states that for 18 months after they leave office, former ministers "will not lobby, advocate or have business meetings with members of the Government … on any matters on which they have had official dealings as minister".

Michael talks to Stephen Anthony, Industry Super Australia’s chief economist about a new study that says nuclear reactors should be considered as a realistic option to confront Australia's deepening energy crisis.

Mr Anthony says "If you look at the output of the nuclear industry, and if you consider its future relative to other technologies, it looks awfully good relative to some of the other potential technologies and therefore it shouldn't be excluded from consideration."

Michael talks to Stephen Jones, federal Labor member for the Division of Whitlam, who has slammed the Australian Rugby Union & the GoFundMe site for their handling of the ongoing Israel Folau saga. , declaring his religious views are “what multiculturalism looks like”.

As reported in The Australian, ‘Mr Jones said he disagrees with Folau’s views on homosexuality but declared the former footballer should not have been shunned by the ARU.’

‘“This is what multiculturalism looks like. It is not just about having a wide variety of interesting food and interesting dances and costumes, actually it is more than that. It is about people’s cultures and faiths and all of that interacting with ours,” Mr Jones said.’
