Senator Jim Molan AO, Liberal Senator for NSW & Former Australian Army Major General - Chief of Operations, Coalition Forces joins Michael to talk about Opposition Leader Bill Shorten’s declaration that if Labor is success at the next election they would create a government-owned reserve as "an important national security measure".

They also discuss the escalated hostilities over the last 24 hours between India & Pakistan.

It has been revealed that Sydney has the most extensive & expensive urban toll road network in the world.

Governments ague that all these toll roads are a necessary evil because without tolls they couldn’t afford to build them in the first place.

Michael is joined by Dr Michelle Zeibots, research director of the UTS Transport Research Centre who wrote yesterday that “tollways aren’t successful at reducing road congestion”.

“The reason why governments continue to build them is that they are put under

enormous pressure by the tollway industry and individuals sometimes within their

own party, who I would suggest are there to see tollway businesses make a lot of

money.

“But that is at the expense of the general community and the local businesses of

Sydney.

Dr Zeibots explains that what Sydney needs is more public transport.

As Louise Callaghan writes in her recent The Times article, ‘Half a decade ago, tens of thousands of them (fighters) left their homes to join ISIS. They took package flights to Turkey, where they crossed to Syria and pledged undying allegiance to the caliphate, which stretched for hundreds of miles over the Levant to the Nineveh plains. Many burnt their passports.

After almost five years, thousands dead and one of the largest urban military campaigns in modern history, all that remained on Saturday of the so-called caliphate, which once controlled an area the size of Britain, was a patch of ground no bigger than a few football pitches, dotted with tents and ramshackle buildings.

Michael is joined by Professor Rodger Shanahan, Research Fellow at the Lowy Institute for International Policy and asks the question now the physical caliphate is now done & dusted, how do we ever combat the ideology that gave it birth?
