  • Senator seeks amendment to ‘JobMaker Hiring Credit’ bill
Michael is joined by Senator Rex Patrick, Senator for South Australia – Centre Alliance, regarding his intention to amend the Coalition Government’s Economic Recovery Package (JobMaker Hiring Credit) Amendment Bill 2020 to ensure that decisions about spending billions of taxpayers’ dollars are properly authorised by the Australian Parliament, not completely delegated to the Executive Government.
Senator Patrick has lodged a dissenting report to the Senate Economics Legislation Committee inquiry regarding this Bill.
“This is an extraordinary piece of legislation through which the Australian Parliament would abrogate its constitutional responsibility to decide legislation to an executive government that is already notoriously secret and very adverse to parliamentary and media scrutiny”, Senator Patrick said.
"The JobMaker Hiring Credit Bill in its current form – with a head of power granting largely unconstrained control and discretion to the Executive - should not be passed by the Parliament without the rules governing the JobMaker scheme being included in the legislation.”
“While the COVID-19 pandemic has posed many novel challenges to the conduct of business, the Parliament cannot abandon its constitutional responsibility as a legislature, one that makes laws in public, with open debate and voting for which its members are ultimately accountable back to their constituents.”

  • Trump wins second-highest popular vote in American history
Michael is joined by Brendan O’Neill, editor of spiked and host of the Spiked Podcast, who writes that ‘the 70 million people who voted for Trump are revolting against the new elites and that we should listen.’
‘Mr O’Neill writes, ‘So Joe Biden has won the highest popular vote in the history of the US. At the time of writing, more than 73 million people have voted for him. He has beaten the record set by Barack Obama who was swept to power on that famous wave of ‘HOPE’ and 69.5 million votes in 2008.’
‘But here’s the thing: so has Donald Trump. Trump might trail Biden in the popular vote of 2020, but he, too, has beaten Obama’s 2008 record. Trump, at the time of writing, has 69.7 million votes. So he has won the second-highest popular vote in the history of the American republic. That is remarkable. Far more remarkable than Biden’s very impressive count.’
‘Why? For one simple reason. Trump is the man we’re all meant to hate. He has been raged against ceaselessly by the cultural elites for the past four years. Hardly any of the American media backed him in 2020. Globalist institutions loathe him.’
‘Academia, the media elites, the social-media oligarchies, the celebrity set and other hugely influential sectors have branded him a 21st-century Hitler and insisted that only a “white supremacist” could countenance voting for him. He’s the butt of every sniffy East Coast joke and the target of every fiery street protest. He’s the worst thing to happen to Western politics in decades, we’re told, by clever people, constantly.’
‘And yet around 70 million Americans voted for him. The second-highest electoral bloc in the history of the US put their cross next to the name of a man who over the past four years has been turned by the political clerisy into the embodiment of evil.’

Michael is joined by John Blackburn AO, Air Vice-Marshal (Ret'd) / Chairman of the Institute for Integrated Economic Research – Australia, regarding British energy giant BP’s announcement this week that it will permanently shut down one of Australia's last remaining oil refineries.
The Kwinana Refinery, located on the shore of Cockburn Sound at Kwinana, near Fremantle W.A., is Australia's largest refinery with a capacity of 150,000 barrels of oil per day.
BP’s move will trigger hundreds of job losses and increase Australia’s reliance on imported fuel prompting union calls for urgent government intervention.

  • James Martin to be honoured
Jim Haynes, writer, Australian historian & Chris Smith Show regular, joins Michael to shed some history behind James Martin, who will have a bronze statue unveiled in his honour this week at Martin Place in Sydney’s CBD.
Martin was born in Midleton, County Cork, Ireland, but emigrated with his parents to Sydney at the age of one.

  • Annastacia Palaszczuk & the power of closed borders
Michael is joined by Paul Kelly, Editor at Large The Australian Newspaper, commentator & author, regarding the Queensland election which has proven the power of closed borders with Annastacia Palaszczuk showing how the virus has elevated strongarm populist premiers as the new giant killers roaming the land.
Mr Kelly writes, ‘The coronavirus is rocking our politics, creating new winners and losers. The winners are the populist toughs — premiers with their Trumpian “Queensland First” or “Western Australia First” boasts, imposing closed borders, exploiting the public’s priority for health safety before economic activity and living off the Morrison’s government’s vast financial support for business and employees.’
‘The formula is devastatingly effective and highly dangerous. Palaszczuk played the script brilliantly. With her third election victory the once underrated Queensland Premier has entered the pantheon of Labor heroes as the first woman party leader in Australia to win three elections.
