Michael is joined by Lidia Morawska, Professor of atmospheric sciences & environmental engineering at Queensland University of Technology, who is one of many experts challenging the official view of how the coronavirus spreads with an open letter to the World Health Organisation outlining evidence that coronavirus is airborne.

 

"We are 100 percent sure about this," said Professor Morawska.  Scientists have demonstrated "beyond any reasonable doubt" that those microdroplets pose a risk beyond 1 to 2 metres, potentially making the 1.5 metre social distancing rule inadequate.

 

"We are concerned that people may think they are fully protected by following the current recommendations, but in fact, additional airborne precautions are needed to further reduce the spread of the virus."

Jeff Kennett AC, Former Liberal Premier of Victoria 1992 - 1999 & founding Chairman of beyondblue, speaks to Michael on the eve of the Victorian border with New South Wales being closed due to a Victoria recording its largest single-day increase in COVID-19 cases since the beginning of the pandemic.

 

That closure will be enforced on the New South Wales side with a permit system in place for people who need to travel from Victoria into NSW.

The Hon James McGrath, Liberal Senator for Queensland & Chair of Joint Standing Committee on Electoral Matters, joins Michael over calls to change electoral laws to force Australians to produce identification before voting in federal elections.

"Every surf, bowls or services club in Australia requires a person to show ID to enter," says Senator McGrath.

"Yet in Australia we do not treat elections with the same gravity as a visit to a surf club or entering a Brisbane CBD pub after 10pm on a Friday night."

After the 2016 federal election, 18,343 people were asked to explain why their name had been ticked off more than once. Despite the Australian Federal Police receiving 7743 allegations of voter fraud, only 65 were investigated and not one person was convicted.

Drafted, passed in Beijing and imposed arbitrarily on the territory, this effectively puts an end to the Basic Law under which Hong Kong has been governed since 1997.

 

The Basic Law guaranteed Hong Kong special autonomy under its own administration, no abridgement of its civil rights and movement towards full democracy across 50 years which has now been swept away by Chinese President Xi Jinping.
