Columbia's city council discussed the issue of homelessness for more than two hours, during Monday night's meeting. City staff officials say the Wabash station is not an ideal location for an emergency overnight warming center, especially during a pandemic. There were a number of citizens at the meeting. Fifth ward city councilman Matt Pitzer tells 939 the Eagle's "Wake Up Columbia" that there was an organized campaign by a group of activists to fill the council chambers. Councilman Pitzer shares staff's concerns about the Wabash station, including the lack of social distancing and concrete floors:
