Day 26 – The block route was closed, yes the same sign was up as yesterday, no I didn’t ignore it – I thought I would end up on the TPT Trans Pennie Trail and lack of directions supersedes me, looked at Willow, who shook her head , so I took that as a sign and turned round. I ended up walking round Meadowhall carpark. Not a blade of grass in sight, poor Willow, I was riddled with guilt. Mind you neither was there any cars. I did find where the security guards skive though. Trooped home with my bottom lip hanging out in a sulk, clearly, I was not adulting today – it’s overrated anyway. I did accomplish the obligatory 2.something miles - all was not lost.

Day 25 – The day after the day before, yeah I’m not sure where I was going with that one but to say, that yesterday; round the block was closed. Yes, the River Don stopped my plod. Yes, I know there was diversions but I wasn’t going to mention it. So needless to say, I couldn’t walk round the block, wise choice by me.
You wanna know a secret? Come here then – Willow and I walked past the cones of no entry; I know I’m a criminal, the dog made me do it officer. Mrs Don had receded but she sure did leave a mess. Oh yeah you guessed it, she left silt and mud. I knew those barriers where there for a reason. The sun was out it looked gorgeous and warm. Very deceptive is the sunshine, it was freezing with an icy wind.
I was pleased I went, didn’t do the muddy towpath, alternative involved a noisy street, but all was good in the hood.

Day 24 - I didn’t walk today I did feel a bit like Noah took the #dogs out one by one. Squelchy, rainy & horrible Eva #Akita loved it. Willow walked quick then home - Just counts as a bimble

Day 23 – I managed to sneak out before said forecasted rain got us, it did but Willow and I were already two thirds round the block anyway.
Let me tell you I ache. I walked the dogs early in the morning then chopped wood all day. Today dawns and I ache – I still went round the block but now I am broken. Go get my mum, I got a boo boo. Where does it hurt? Everywhere, kiss it here and here and here, you can see where that was going.
Got a little trigger happy with the camera, went all David Attenborough with Meadowhall’s (big shopping complex) flood defences. Imagine a castle, stick a moat round it. Put shops in the castle that is what Meadowhall is geared up for. We have flood warnings here. Windy and forecast a lot of rain. We’re fine, our mooring is at the top of a hill and as you learnt in science water flows downhill so we should stay level. The wind is another matter, we are like a big long kite, we’re going to take that side on, hoping the wind is coming from the east as the pontoon will steady the eddy. The boat will be rocking but we’ve been married to long to do that. Dirty minded individuals!! It will be the wind.
Sorry got all boaty then and I’m meant to be a bonafide walker so walked round the block came home ….. again

Day 22 – I was up early with the alarm clock; sorry I mean Willow. Took Eva out for her bimble and then Willow around the block or so I thought, when I lost all tracking the watch died, again – it clearly needs daily charging when working this hard. Bobbed strava on and it just sucked all the power out of my phone. Came home in a huff, if I ain’t been tracked, acknowledged or receiving some sort of, totally I am not walking.
I would have had some wonderful wildlife to show you which I would have photograph, but Willow wanted to eat it all. I really did feel for the squirrels and felt that any animal rights peoples would hate us, well her mainly. See how I tried to distance myself, yes, I’m very much aware it didn’t work, being the owner and having the heavy weight of responsibility for a dog that will listen only when she wants to. Mainly photos of Eva which is usual.
Ready for the big news? This is stonking blow your own trumpet news. You knew it was coming, well here it is – I broke the 100-mile mark. I’m an athlete, OK maybe not an athlete - I’m a hiker, OK maybe not a hiker – I’m a walker OK maybe not a wal… hang on yes I am, I’m a walker. I have even purchased the Country Walking Magazine and I wear walking boots. Oh, how the old me would be laughing at this right now if I’d have told her. We would have giggled like schizophrenics especially as I was talking to myself.
Just before I go, I’d like to put to bed a slight glitch – I am not a nag, I am encouraging and supportive with a little bit of nag thrown in for zest. Okay I nag but I want you all to do so well, by encouraging you, it’s encouraging me. Keep going, you’ll never catch me #quetheevillaugh

Day 21 – Dave keeps shoving us, Willow and I, out of the van and let me tell you the distances are getting longer, well they look like it anyway – right up until you walk it then find out it’s the same distance as walking round the block.
I walked across town today, well when I say town, Sheffield is a city but ya say town, don’t ya? Really not sure why Sheffield is a city, it has a couple of universities, sure Okay. Yes, it has a Cathedral but it’s a tinsy one – although award winning for its architecture. There are bigger churches.
Anyway, I digress but I suspect by now, your used to that, I flicker from one subject to the other quicker than a blink.
Sheffield has some fantastic architecture, a bit of a collective mix, but that’s not what I wanted to talk about / show you, this is what I wanted to show you, the Street Art. I know – you either love it or hate it, like marmite, which as a side note I do not like.
I followed the art all the way home, bit like Hansel and Gretel, but if there was food on the ground I suspect that Willow would have barged them out of the way to get to it, no matter what the condition, age or whether it had legs and was running away.

Day 20 – Willow got it in her noggin that she wanted to go out again, even though she’d just been out, I think she’s getting into the swing of it, eventually coming round to my way of thinking. We donned the double up clothing and we all, the whole boatload went for a walk.
So, the girls went nuts again, there is still snow on the ground so as soon as they were off the lead, it went into Zoomies. All was going well, One Lock, Two Lock, Three Lock and before we get to Four, the mud snuck up on Dave and had him down. I was just churning out my chuckle and of course bending to catch him mid-smash down. When he slid and kicked my bloody ankle bone, complete carnage carry on film. My chuckle metamorphized into a howl, by god those steel toe caps piggin hurt.
I was a trooper don’t fear, I decided to carry on, but Dave was moaning so much, 'I’m wet, I’m jarred, I’m dirty' I sent him home like the princess he is. I trooped on with Willow, thought it might be interesting to come off the block route – no never ever come off the block route. Got lost in Tinsley and ended up on the massive roundabout that is Junction 34 off the M1.
In conclusion, they come in threes, so we are done. Someone else’s turn. Could it be you?

Day 19 - I appear to be the only one not keen on walking in the snow, well when I say snow I mean that term loosely or is it tightly because it’s packed down, it’s now ice, it’s now a slide or an ice rink you pick don’t mind which metaphor you prefer.
I have managed to hide away all day, next to the stove. I was only called to action when Eva, wanted to go. We went, I told you Eva walks slow, she’s old like bagpuss (some may not remember bagpuss). In “Snice” she’s worse, no, not because of age or wanting to sniff every blade of grass – because she wanted to sniff, eat, scrape and look at each individual snowflake and there’s more snice flakes that grass blades. If I was in a sprint or walking on time, I would be a little red in the face about now. And yet I was blue in the face because Mrs Bimble was busy and not concentrating on the business in hand.
I didn’t come out of my burrow until it was dark I have walked 90 miles, clearly that wasn’t today I have barely walked for the last two days due to extreme weather conditions and its forecast to snow again.

Day 18 – Everyone loves snow, right? Wrong, yes it looks lovely, pretty, crisp and clean but it hides things, the mud and the poop. I cannot believe that Natasha did a snow angel, she looked like she was having fun, I didn’t tell her what hides beneath, that would have been rude. She lay on the ground squealing and laughing. You know who else like snow, you know who likes squealing and laughter not only Willow but Eva as well – I thought they were going to Giant Breed herd stomp poor Natasha into the ground, don’t worry I videoed it. Needless to say, Natasha started squealing more which the dogs thought was super exciting and proceeding to race round her like she was the cowboy and they the Indians. In my head I could hear the war cry’s.
We tentatively continued to walked the dogs, with all the slipping and sliding. I thought at one point we were on 'dancing on Ice'. Snow on top of mud and then look who came to the party, slush, you know good old slush, all we needed to make the party complete was a hidden turd (I always pick up) to randomly stand in . I check my boots when I got in, I don’t believe Natasha did, she was trying to thaw out her snow iced mitten hands.
Should I assume that everyone else was in the same mindset, are you crazy it’s a mud bath out there. Unsure let me know below, be good to hear/read from you.
Stats, we’re down to rummaging in the back of the cupboard now for all the ‘I don’t really like them’ stuff. Ding Dong my book came, finally Meal Prep King lets see how batch cooking on a narrowboat goes #tinyfreezer

Day 17 – after the small walk yesterday I was determined to get round the block today. And it rained all day it was a complete rainfest, Willow and I got drenched. I could feel the negative thought process radiating off her; ‘We went home in utter soakingness….. but we did it
Stats, we’ve run out of Christmas food, Out of the official race I’m number 599 which would appear I’m going backwards – I remember the good old days when I was 260. To be fair there are now 5362 walkers/runners. First position is being held onto by a lady who has done 1000 miles already – 2nd place is another lady who has done 348miles, clearly, she’s been eating her Weetabix.
