This is a snippet of conversation from my conversation with Dawn and April. Well, admittedly it's mostly just me holding forth, but we do discuss traditions in the context of the Bible. Turns out, probably not every single thing that ever happened got put into the Bible.

This is episode 16, an interview with sisters Dawn Douglas and April Schofield of Bakersfield California. I met Dawn and April at the Shavuot celebration at Safe Haven Sustainable Farms in Orosi, California. If you want to find out more about Safe Haven Farms and their incredible ministries, check out episode 14, In The Garden with Bryan and Karla Barnes.
Something that is touched on here on Walk Like a Hebrew, but hasn’t been really talked about yet, is the number of people who come into this walk without their spouses and essentially walk alone. Dawn and April both came into the Torah-believing life at the same time and both without their husbands. Fortunately for these two, they have each other, but often this isn’t the case. We talk about the joys and struggles and how exactly to cope when your family thinks you’re crazy, and how the walk and Our ABBA make it all worthwhile. The story of how these women came to be Hebrews is pretty incredible, and it will definitely touch hearts.

In episode 15, Terry and Marti McHenry of Reno, Nevada, talk with me about Marti’s discovery of a bookstore that had both Christian AND Jewish things for sale, how they extricated themselves from their mainstream, Evangelical church, and how Terry’s 800 page book came about.

More bonus content from the conversation with Bryan and Karla Barnes. I talk a bit about how my mother reacted when I began keeping Torah; Bryan gives great advice for perspective on our time in Mainstream Christianity.

A snippet of conversation between me and Bryan Barnes of Safe Haven Sustainable Farms that didn't make it into the final cut of the interview, but was worthy enough to be shared. We are talking about spreading the gospel.

In Episode 14, In the Garden, I sat down with Bryan and Karla Barnes of Safe Haven Farms in Orosi California. Bryan and Karla are gearing up for a busy week with the feast of Shavuot being celebrated at the farm. They talked with me about their journey from mainstream Christianity to keeping Torah; their farming program, Growing in Torah; youth camp Messiah West Coast; and how gardening and farming can inspire a deeper relationship with Yahweh.
