Walk With God episodes

  • Haggai | "Holy or Unclean"

Show Notes: Have you heard the children’s song, “Oh, be careful little eyes what you see?” God calls His people to moral purity. In today’s verses, the Lord is calling on the priests to lead the people and show them how to walk well with God. Each of us falls short of holiness and so we must continually come back to the Lord and confess our sin. He wants us to address those areas in our lives where we fall short – speech, attitude, deeds. Bring these before the Lord and do the things that will lead to holiness and living a life that pleases the Lord. God calls us to walk in obedience and to live a life that brings glory and honor to His name. Scripture Passage: Haggai 2:10-15

  • Haggai | "Future Glory"

Show Notes: The LORD of hosts is a promise-keeping God. Today’s passage reveals His desire to bless the obedience of the people and to encourage them with the future glory that will come. He boldly declares that the silver and gold belong to Him. And, the LORD tells them not to fall into the trap of comparison – Solomon’s temple and this rebuilt temple. He gives a beautiful promise for the people. “This house will be greater than the former and in this place I will give peace.” God can change our perspective when we choose to look toward the future glory that awaits us. Scripture Passage: Haggai 2:5-9

  • Haggai | "Take Courage!"

Show Notes: Big projects can be tiring, stressful, and overwhelming. The people in Jerusalem have been called to rebuild the Lord’s house. The Lord sent the prophet, Haggai and called them back to the project He had assigned. After four short weeks, the people get caught in the discouragement of comparison! Some of the older people remember the beauty and splendor of Solomon’s temple and this second temple just doesn’t compare. Comparison is a detriment to our emotional and spiritual well-being. The Lord says, “Take courage, and work.” God has the master plan and He is working all things together of His glory. Tonight's Scripture Passage: Haggai 2:1-5.

  • Haggai | "Decide To Obey"

Show Notes: Distractions come in many different forms. Some are external while others are internal. But when we have been called to work on a project or complete a task, distractions often pull us away from the focus. The word of the Lord came to the remnant and the Lord stirred in their spirits – They chose to obey and return to the work God had called them to do – Haggai 1:8 – “rebuild the temple, that I may be pleased with it and be glorified.” Through His written Word, through the work of the Holy Spirit, the Lord is calling … Will you listen? … Will you adjust your priorities? … Will you obey Him? – Tonight's Scripture: Haggai 1:5-15

  • Haggai | "Consider Your Ways"

Show Notes: Let’s open our Bibles to the Old Testament and take a closer look at the book of Haggai (a Minor Prophet). What are the people of God to do in times of national uncertainty, discouragement, and division? When we become discouraged, frightened, or frustrated that’s when we often begin to make excuses and we lose sight of our priorities. “Now therefore, thus says the LORD of hosts, 'Consider your ways!'” (Haggai 1:5). These are strong words from the LORD and yet they reveal the heart of a very gracious God. He is calling to His wayward children. Stop making excuses. Align your priorities with My plan. Consider your ways!

  • Christmas Reflections | "Spread The News!"

SHOW NOTES: The shepherds found the baby in Bethlehem – but their story doesn’t end bowing before the Christ Child. These lowly, humble men were excited to share the story. • Advent Reflections Four | "Treasure These Things"

SHOW NOTES: Mary and Joseph journey from Nazareth to Bethlehem and it is time for her baby to be born. We catch glimpses of their predicament: no room for them in the inn, labor and delivery of the promised Child in an animal stable, and shepherds arrive in search of the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. Glory to God in the Highest! Mary treasured and pondered these things in her heart. What do I treasure? What do you treasure?

Scripture Passage: Luke 2:1-20 / See also Luke 1:30-34

  • Advent Reflections Three | "Fingerprints Of God's Messengers"

SHOW NOTES: The angel of the Lord, Gabriel, was sent to deliver several important messages in preparation for the arrival of Baby Jesus in Bethlehem. Zacharias, Mary, Joseph, and the shepherds saw the angel of the Lord and he spoke these words, “Do not be afraid.” God the Father was laying the groundwork for the entrance of His One and Only Son to the earth. The fanfare for His birth would include a multitude of the heavenly hosts proclaiming, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.” Each of these is an announcement of God’s plan for salvation unfolding.

  • Advent Reflections Two | "Small, Yet Significant"

SHOW NOTES: Have you ever struggled with feeling small, insignificant, or unimportant? God delights in using those small, insignificant places, people, and situations to bring glory to Himself. The little town of Bethlehem appears early in the pages of our Bible. Though it’s a small farming town, the story of God’s redemptive plan unfolds in the lives of the common people who live there. This is the birthplace of King David. God’s master plan included Bethlehem. Jesus would be born in this small town. In the same way, none of us is insignificant in God’s plan. Visit Bethlehem, in God’s written Word, and in your thoughts and heart. Oh, come, let us adore Him!

  • Advent Reflections One | "Purpose Woven into Prophecy"

Waiting. It’s never easy. Isaiah spoke of the One who would come and sit on David’s throne. Malachi tells about the forerunner who would prepare the way for this Promised One. Israel was watching. They had waited for decades and centuries. In Israel, a righteous couple continued to pray, asking the Lord to bless them with a baby. Zacharias and Elizabeth welcomed their son, John the Baptist with great joy and gladness. God’s purpose and plan came to fruition in His time. We can trust the Almighty God who weaves all things together with great purpose. Scripture Passages: Matthew 11:1-11 / Luke 1:5-25
