It's believed accessibility needs to be considered before any decision is made on the long-term pedestrianisation of Ennis's main thoroughfare.

A Walkability Study of Ennis is to be led by Clare County Council's Age Friendly Programme Manager in conjunction with Ennis Municipal District and the Clare Older People's Council.

The last such study was conducted in 2019.
