  • #73 The Customer Mission: Recruiting And Retaining The Right Employees
On this week's edition of "The Customer Mission" on The WAM Podcast, host, Andrea Olson, is advising listeners about talent attraction and retention, an important conversation for many manufacturers who have a hard time recruiting and keeping skilled talent in their organizations. Perhaps it's time to investigate whether we are approaching the hiring process correctly because attracting the right pool of candidates is crucial.
What we've discovered is that it is often in the smaller details where companies go wrong. The hiring landscape has changed so drastically that the strategies that worked twenty years ago are no longer applicable and new methods for finding the appropriate employees should be explored. A rigid checklist of qualities and qualifications often prove ineffective because the lane becomes too narrow and potentially great candidates can be discarded. Andrea shares insights on how to overcome these obstacles, discussing and providing solutions to the eight most common mistakes that companies make in the hiring process.

  • #71 Riveting Exchanges: The Art Of Internal Selling
On this week's edition of the "Riveting Exchanges" segment on The WAM Podcast, hosts, Andrea Olson and Desiree Grace, discuss the concept of internally selling and what to do to get buy-in from your boss or colleagues for your next big idea. They discuss examples from their own extensive work experience and how they managed to get buy-in on their ideas. The ladies highlight the importance of involving as many people as possible so that people who may be resistant can clearly see their role ina potentially-changing system, and they do not feel as though they will get left behind.
This is important because people who do not buy in can act as roadblocks in executing the idea. Collaborating and engaging with the multiple stakeholders will mean that rather than just accepting the idea, people will truly buy in and work towards a collective vision because they feel heard and valued. This is not easy, especially when dealing with lots of personalities who have different interests, but following some simple steps will make internal selling more manageable.
