Drones continue to change how warfare is conducted.  In just the past few days we've seen Ukrainian drones rescue some of their soldiers from being captured and an unmanned ground vehicle used to capture Russian soldiers.  There has been a noticeable decline in offensive activity along the front but Russia is still attacking in multiple areas.  Overnight Russia conducted a sizeable drone and missile attack against Ukraine seemingly putting an end to the short ceasefire proposed by President Trump.

We should expect to see more of this in 2026

Today we're looking into Ukraine's new search and destroy tactics that they're using to clear the Russians out of certain areas along the front.  This type of effort takes a lot of planning and we're seeing how that takes shape in areas like Dobropillia and Kupyansk.  This is the type of offensive action I would expect to see from Ukraine moving into 2026 rather than large-scale frontal assaults.

This is more casualties than any major power has suffered since WWII

Today we're looking at a new report just published by CSIS outlining Russian losses so far in Ukraine.  They come to a staggering 1.2 million total casualties and show that the average rate of advance is slower than what was seen in major offensives going back to, and including WWI.  It's hard to grasp these totals but we also have folks like Andrew Perpetua compiling the data daily to confirm these stats.

It's getting hard to keep any major assets close to the front

Today we're looking into a few medium range strikes carried out by Russia into Ukraine. The first struck a decoy F-16 at an airfield 200km from the front and the second hit a logistics route keeping Pokrovsk in the fight. While neither strike caused important damage, each show an issue that Ukraine will need to address. We also have a possible energy ceasefire going into effect, tonight will be telling.

Everything is in place for a sustained campaign against the Iranian regime

The US military is deploying assets to the Middle East as President Trump issues a warning to Iran that they need to make a deal or face an attack by the United States. We look at the sizeable buildup that's known to us at this point as well as regional allies that are either likely to be a part of the operation, or making sure they're not included at all. We also have some new footage from CNN talking with citizens in Tehran about the possibility of a US attack.

Russian soldiers on the attack right now have only one hope of survival, surrender to Ukrainian forces.  The rest are hunted down by drones as they slowly freeze to death in the grey zone.  The weather is taking a major toll at the front and usually corresponds to a decrease in offensive activity.  We're generally seeing that but Russia is still throwing individual soldiers forward, especially near Pokrovsk.

The cold favors the defender in this case
