Hey guys!
Todays episode is going to deal with some heavier subject matter so be aware and if you aren't feeling up to conversations around abuse (from sexual to emotional) then feel free to sit this one out and come hang with us next week.
I would like to say this episode was recorded a couple of weeks ago and...I don't think it has aged well.
At the time of this recording the infamous Wayfair Conspiracy Theory was just starting to take off and now we cant decide if all of this is just to crazy to be true or if we are appropriately freaked out. EITHER WAY...we speak on that for a bit in this episode as well. Excuse all the bafoonery or disproven "facts" we spew in that segment and let us know what updates you guys have heard as well.
Hope you guys are staying safe and staying sane!
Whitney and Jacklyn xoxo
Sorry we went MIA on you guys! But we are back and as excited as we are to get in to this weekend episode covering Karmageddon 2020, body image, healthy habits and self care we do want to apologize really quickly for the audio quality on this episode.
It wasn’t until we were done recording when we realized that something went wrong on Whitney’s mic and it kiiiinnnda sounds like you are listening to Skype call.
BUT we hope they can over look the sound issue and enjoy the conversation! Stay tuned for next weeks episode coming out on Tuesday July 22nd where we are going to discuss the recent Wayfair conspiracy theory, narcissistic personality disorder as well the way that media romanticizes abusive relationships. We are looking at you Twilight, 50 shades, and 365!

Welcome back guys!
Todays video is going to be QUITE a mixed bag so hold on to your butts...and after you hold on to them...vigorously apply your preferred cosmetic treatment to them. Thats right, we are talking about the weird rise of beauty products targeted to our hineys! Why are these being sold? Whose buying them?! And more importantly, what is so wrong with our butts ANYWAY!?
We get into that as well as how we are practicing self care these days. Whether it's through breathing exercises or physical exercise we dive into the practice of true self care and why companies should keep their grubby hands out of. Because although marketing may like to trick us into thinking so..a pampering face mask is not the end all be all to showing ourselves love and kindness. Whitney says all the time that self care is a VERB that requires continued and intentional effort on our parts. You cannot Sephora haul your way to it. . So today, we wanted to kick around some ideas of easy self care and how our brains actually respond to continued stress.
ALSO
Are we on the verge of Dramageddon 3.0?! And how is it humanely possible that Jeffree Star has been involved in ALL THREE at this point? Is he some more misunderstood and mistreated multi millionaire who cant find a loyal friend to save his life? Or is he the architect of his own destruction stacking a house of cards that is finally on the verge of collapse? And furthermore, what does that consistent support of such controversial person say about the beauty community as a whole? Is it the beginning of the end?
Let's talk about it on today's episode!

It has been a dark week in the United States and we would like to extend our deepest condolences for the families of all the recent (and not so recent) victims of systemically protected racial violence.
In this weeks episode we discuss the tragic murder of George Floyd, our countries response to it (both virtuous and otherwise) what we can do to help, and lots of rants and raves along the way.
We are also going to be discussing Whitney's new video series coming to her channel called Broken Beauty where she will dive into the insidious nature of beauty culture, money, and what our participation in beauty does for our futures. For better OR for worse.
This is a bit of a heavier but (in our opinion) necessary episode and discussion we look forward to having with all of you.

This weeks episode is one part COVID-19 talk, one part summer plan projections, one part current beauty events, and one part facing our mortality and the ways we are NOT tryin to be taken out of the world…namely through bear attacks and/or Harry Potter World freak accidents.
So settle in as we discuss the untold danger of chub rub (what mouth breather decided that’s what it should be called?), how beauty professionals are getting through this difficult time, the companies doing everything they can too capitalize off “immunity boosting” supplements, and breaking news about The War Paint Book Club!

And better than ever?
That's debatable of course, but a wise woman once said "progress over perfection".
Was it Oprah?
Feels like it was Oprah...
ANYWAY!
We know that we left you guys high and dry for several weeks so tune in to this months episode for the skinny on where we have been, freezer books, toxic podcast relationships, and the fatal beauty trends some women are opting for to save some dough.
Which is something we HAVE to do I guess in order to afford our $1,000 moisturizer! Yeah, we see you La Mer.

In 2019 the beauty industry is making an estimated $532 BILLION dollars. Yea...thats billion...with a b.
It might not surprise you to hear that makeup, skin care, and other beauty products are flying off the shelf in a time when selfies reign supreme. But what MIGHT surprise you is just how those dollars are being raked in.
Enter the beauty guru.
In todays episode I will be sharing a couple of stories with my beautiful co host and long time BFF Jacklyn Rose that will help paint the picture of how this mega machine works, who are they key players, and some of the biggest scandals to ever hit the beauty community and that have (as a result) changed the industry FOREVER.
Jacklyn is a 100% certified beauty community virigin, and I cant wait for you guys to hear how bizarre all of this sounds to real people who aren't flooded with instagram ads, Morphe palettes, and Kardashian inspired aesthetics.
Stay tuned for part two where we talk about The Lipsticks and the video that infamous "Bye, Sister" video.
Fuzzy lipsticks, snapchat fights, and best friends behaving badly.Today we are breaking down two more of the biggest scandals to ever hit the beauty community in 2019.
This is part two of the series to introduce my cohost Jacklyn Rose to the wonderful, unusual, and vicious world of the beauty community. Beauty gurus, the glorification of hyper consumerism that comes with some of them, the media's insidious pressure on women to personify the female ideal of beauty, and how we internalize these messages are EXACTLY the things inspired me to start this podcast in the first place.
And what better way to explore the themes and issues facing the system of beauty in 2019 than dissect what the biggest figures in the community are doing and what it says about where we are in this community as a whole.
Now...don't get too excited, this will absolutely not be a tea spillin, drama reportin, receipt pullin podcast on the regular. I just thought it would be incredibly beneficial for Jacklyn to have some context on this thing I have dedicated my professional life before we get ready to go on this podcast journey together.
The beauty industry as a whole fascinates me to no end. The addition of social media and how all of this is playing out in front of millions people has only solidified my never ending interest/obsession with all things beauty. I truly cannot wait to speak more on this subject in future episodes.
