Beyond Easter takes a look at the resurrection morning and Jesus’ first appearance to the disciples. We will look at five results of the resurrection that would empower the disciples beyond the resurrection.

When the Spirit is moving in power there will be resistance. We see that as we begin looking at Acts chapter 4. This is the continuation of the story we began two weeks ago. A man has been miraculously healed. It has created quite a bit of excitement in the Temple. The leaders of the temple come to see what is causing the uproar. They question Peter and John wanting to know who gave them the authority to do such a thing. Their response was; “We did it in the powerful name of Jesus.” In our modern world what does the powerful name of Jesus mean to us?

It is the power of Jesus through the Gospel that transforms lives. After the healing of the man born lame the crowd was astonished. Peter wisely saw this as a perfect opportunity to share the gospel. So he seized the moment and speaking the truth gave them the the good news about the forgiveness of sin. In this message we will see how we can apply Peters methods in our context today.

Beginning with Acts chapter 3 we are able to see how the actions of a church which had be transformed by the Gospel impacted their world in a revolutionary way and was in fact a revolution. In the message, “More than Money” we will see how God can interrupt the routine of life and and effect a revolutionary impact.

One day there were 120 believers. The next day there were over 3,000 believers. How would they disciple so many people? They developed essential rhythms that empowered believers to live in such a way that would build disciples. They gave us these rhythms which are the DNA of a disciplining body.

In his explanation of what was happening on the day of Pentecost, Peter laid out the Root and Route of Salvation. He showed how salvation and the filling of the Holy spirit was predicted in the Old Testament. The Peter told his audience how they could be saved.

In this last message we will take a look at what being filled with the Spirit looks like. How does the filling of the Spirit change my life? What difference does it make? We will look at the teaching of Jesus and the evidence in the book of Acts to try and answer these questions.

In the previous message we saw how the Holy Spirit was given to the believers and everything changed. We saw how the disciples with all their weaknesses became apostles who were filled with power, courage, and wisdom. We took a look at Jesus’ teachings about the Holy Spirit and what the Spirit means to us today. In this message we will see how we are filled with the Holy Spirit and lived lives of adventure, power, and purpose.
