The story of Stephen is one of the most inspirational in the New Testament. In the face of his own death this one man told the story of other individuals God has used throughout history and clearly demonstrated for us the power of one.

As the early church grew and the Apostles boldness to share the gospel became greater the jealousy of the Jewish leaders increased. In this message we will see that the tension building between the church and the Temple resulted once again in the Apostles being arrested. Last week we saw the church praying together. The place where they were meeting was shaken and they were all filled with the Spirit. In this message we will see the result of a Spirit filled church in a very practical way.

Jesus said “My house will be a house of prayer.” Over and over again as Luke share the history of the early church in the book of Acts we find the church joining together in prayer and then the power of God was manifested in them. God intends for His people to join together in prayer. In this message we will see what we can learn from the first century church and their habit of prayer.

In the story of the “Rich Young Ruler”, found in Luke chapter 18, Jesus dispels some wrong beliefs which are still common today. In the process we are reminded that “with God all things are possible.”
