We are joined this week by Simon Rosenberg, a 30-year veteran of US politics. He is a Democratic political strategist and creator of Hopium Chronicles, a daily blog and video series covering the national election, and it encourages Democrats to be optimistic in our outlook and our work.

He is in conversation with Congressman Adam Smith, who serves Washington’s 9th Congressional District. Smith was first elected to the House in 1997, and he is currently the ranking member of the House Armed Services Committee.

In this November’s election, one of the key legislative races is the campaign to replace outgoing 5th LD Senator Mark Mullet, who is currently running for governor.

Democrat Bill Ramos has served as representative in the 5th since 2019. His district includes Issaquah, Maple Valley, and Renton.
