We are commanded in the New Testament by Jesus and reminded by other writers to love our enemies, be kind and tender hearted towards one another, forgiving one another and even being commanded to love our enemies. But are these a new series of commands or do we have a root of all of these in the Old Testament?

Joy is a mindset on Jesus and eternity with Him. The Joy of the Lord is our strength, amen! Joy will always lead to peace, but often times distractions cause chaos and division that creep their way into our lives. Paul tells us that having joy, a mindset on Christ and eternity, will bring peace in the middle of the distractions! Don’t let distractions ruin the good thing you got going on with Jesus.

So can ministries. Even homes and families can be that way. Is there a biblical model for recovering and restoring that cutting edge? Absolutely! And it comes straight from our Master’s mouth: “Remember. Return. Repeat.”

Luke 24:27 "And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself." Jesus reminds us that all of the Scriptures concern Him!

Psalm 22:6 reveals one such connection to Jesus through the words of David, "I am a worm and not a man;..." We will explore the beauty revealed in nature to the very worm Jesus was referring and the picture of the Gospel that is fulfilled in our Savior, Jesus Christ!

Luke 11:14-32. Most of us have had to deal with a bully from time to time. If not, you are one of the fortunate ones, or you were the bully. Hey, no judgment from me, just an observation. Anyway, much of young life, or at least much of our energies, in one way or another are spent looking for people and places where we could belong. A community that excepts us for who we are and will choose to defend us against the "mean people" that are all around us. This is also a community that will come to our aid in a fight or during the many moments of tragedy this life has to offer us. No matter how difficult things become, it is not only comforting but consoling to our wounded souls to know that when we are in trouble there is someone that can come to our aid in the fight. A strong friend and companion for the journey that will never fail or leave our side. Well, as the community of faith we have the best defender ever! His name is Jesus! He is the one who said, "And low I am with you always, even to the end of the age." (Matthew 28:20) He is greater than the devil and even death itself. He is even greater than that person who keeps talking bad things about you or is pushing you around at work. Be still and be quiet and let Jesus come to your defense. You are not alone!
