Jeremiah 29:10-14

This time of year is called by some "the silly season" because not only do our lives get complicated, but people can get a little crazy too. With all that has happened in the world and our country, this last year has been especially hard on many. The long term damage from lockdowns and isolation will not be really known for years to come. Yet, we can see tangible trama all around us now. Thank God that His faithfulness never changes, and we can rest our hope on the fact that He has a plan. A plan to bless and help us. So don't lose heart; God is still in charge!

2. "The church talks about chastity a lot. And it's hard in today's society when so many couples are living together and have for years. So they get married, and start coming to church and become active and very good christians. Are they forgiven for not being chased when they got married? What if they want to continue just living together? can they still come to church?"

3. "In Exodus it goes into great detail in how they built the tabernacle. In Leviticus it goes into incredible detail about all the sacrifices and burn offerings and what part goes where, the blood, the animals, each sin was a different animal. And it goes on and on. Why do we have to know this stuff? (No wonder it took them 40 years... always having to do sacrifices.) I understand the purpose of sacrifices, but do we really have to know all this today? If so Why?"

Christmas is a time of giving. Wednesday evening we’ll unwrap God’s multifaceted gift to the World: a Child. In the Christmas story there’s a verse that gives three titles to the baby Jesus, “For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord” (Luke 2:11). There is no personal name or other identifiers given in this verse, only three titles: Savior, Christ, and Lord. One person, one newborn baby, given three important titles. We’ll learn—or perhaps be reminded—of the significance of this baby’s name and how it corresponds to the three titles.

Based on HIS sovereign goodness, His absolute and total control of all of HIS creation - the concept of an “accident” is just not compatible with God's character. This brings up questions. We must learn to view God by way of His character and His attributes (like His sovereignty) rather than viewing God through circumstances and events in this world. God is good - ALL of the time. God loves us - ALL of the time. That is how we should view HIM, not by what is happening in the world around us!

If you were going to be given crazy information about your future, otherworldly input that would be hard, if not impossible, to believe, who would you trust to give it to you? You would probably need it to come from someone you trust. Someone you have found creditable over time. Someone you could put your confidence in. Who would that be for you? Friends, family, church leaders, or someone else? Never forget we can always trust God and His wonderful word. Also, we should all be reliable in our handling of His Word, being His faithful servants in it as we love Him, each other, and the world.
