Have you ever known someone that was, what I would call, dangerously independent? You know the type. No matter what the obstacle, they will do it their way at any cost. Inevitably at some point in their own limited strength, they fail, and we end up taking them to the hospital after some crazy adventure. We can also, and mistakenly I might add, think we are "all that" too. But the reality of our weakness and need will catch up with all of us someday. When it comes to our relationship the God, we must empty ourselves and, with piety, come to Him for what we need. Just like helpless beggars who can not rescue themselves, we must, in the end, trust God for his provision of grace, love, help, and heaven.

Revelation

As a child, I remember that my family always had an old atlas in the car whenever we went on a trip. When I would eventually start whining because I was bored out of my mind, my Mom would pull out that big book of maps and show where we were, how we were going to get there, and what landmarks I could look for along the way, It would take my mind off my soul-numbing boredom for a little while at least. I am confident that none of us are actually bored with the book of Revelation, but it is still good to have a clear picture of where we are going and what we will see along the way, and what to expect when we get to our destination. This will be a great trip, and there are lots of glorious things to see and learn along the way. So, buckle up.

Have you ever been to someone's home that was so immaculate that you felt uncomfortable sitting on anything? Not super inviting I know. It does get worse when they start fixing the plastic-covered pillows on the couch you are sitting on, right?!? As much as we can giggle at that, what about the broken men and women who are looking for hope and healing when they come into the house of God? They come desperate to find a reason for continuing in this crazy world. Instead, they find that those within the walls do not desire to deal with their mess or their need. Instead, religious folks choose to run them out in order to maintain their loveless status quo. As the church, we are not here to make beautiful and sterol places of pseudo-worship for the self-righteous to sit and judge the world. We are to be part of a community of broken and beautiful people saved from the world into the community of the Kingdom of God. Then seek to meet human needs as a family of faith.

When studying the wonderful book of Revelation it is helpful to have some background and a handle on key verses. In this study we look at the last two of our key verses. The Divine Outline in 1:19 and the Divine Calling in Rev 12:11 in hopes of having the big picture in had and we begin the journey through the final chapters of God Word.

God uses the trials in the lives of believers to grow them in maturity.
