Elijah was obediently accepting the Lord’s provision for him at the Brook Cherith when it dried up. We follow the text as it shows the drastic difference and contrast between King Ahab’s response and Elijah’s response to events from the Lord. How do we respond when a Brook dries up in our lives?

Jesus said, “When you pray, go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.” The secret of prayer is prayer in secret. One of the most neglected privileges afforded to believers is that of prayer; total access to the Father. Elisha asked when he had gathered Elijah’s mantle, “Where is the LORD God of Elijah?” (2 Kings 2:14). In his book, “Why Revival Tarries,” the great English Evangelist from the past century, Leonard Ravenhill, asked, “Where are the Elijahs of God?” Indeed, where are those men and women who will dare to ask the impossible of God to whom all things are possible? Perhaps many Christians are timid about their faith because of lack of fervent prayer.

Jesus is a lover of people and so we should also be, right? However, we can get distracted by what other people think about those who are different from them. Can we look past all the mess and see the person who is in need of the Love of God and not judge them by our own standards, many of which come from our pride? How do we do this? By understanding who we are actually be doing as disciples of Jesus.

Deep down, we all desire to find ourselves in a please of blessing rather than suffering. We love it when we are in happy circumstances, when we are favored by someone and given a leg up, or when we have fortunate outcomes in our endeavors. But do you know that God promises a blessing upon you if you would but read and keep the words of the book of Revelation? If you want to be blessed, take advantage of the great privilege you have, and freely read the keep the words of Revelation. You will not regret it!

Do you know someone who needs a gracious touch from God? Most of us do. A healthy faith community seeks to do the difficult and loving work of bringing people to Jesus despite any and all difficulties or obstacles that may get in the way. The faithful followers of Jesus see every problem as an opportunity for God to be Glorified. Yes, we face problems, and we face them head-on because God is bigger than our problems, right? Often the simplest answer is the right one. Bring people to Jesus. We navigate the tumultuous waters of trials as we diligently seek to figure out ways to open an avenue for them to experience His love and grace. Doing this can often be a tiresome and messy endeavor and can, at times, turn over the applecart of our traditionalism. We need to rethink what we think is right to do what is right on behalf of the lost.
