I am happy to agree with those with are calling for a change in our society. Chaos has taken hold of many, and people are taking to the streets and killing each other over who is running for the office of president. Good is bad and bad is good. The world is literally on fire. So no big surprise we keep hearing 'reform' as a big word of our day. This is about re-making with what is there. But the question is who will make the changes. The good, the bad, the violent? What we need is a God-driven transformation. Not a re-making the old, but to be remade anew in the image of God and His love.

It’s been said, “All men are brothers because we are all sinners. But, we are not all in the brotherhood of Christ. We are all sons of Adam, but, we are not all sons of God.” Titus discovered there were men in the fellowship at Crete who were not necessarily possessed by the Spirit of God. They did not exhibit, as Pastor Ty explained in our previous session, self-control… the fruit of the Spirit, (Gal 5:22-23). How did Paul instruct Titus to deal with these guys? “Shut their mouths!” He really had nothing nice to say about them. What about the church today? Do holier-than-thou legalists still exist in the church? How can you tell if someone is a false teacher, or just uptight? Should we confront them, or just let them do their thing? Let’s see what the Bible has to say…

There is a spiritual battle that is all around us and a part of us every day. We can't see it as it rages on, but it is there none-the-less. We are often oblivious to this fight. Why? Because we are easily blinded by all the trappings of this world falling in on us like a flood of distractions. But the fight rages on. Yet, even when we what to jump in the battle we can not see our enemy anyway, much less defeat him. But our Jesus has the power and authority of the kingdom of darkness because the Kingdom of God has come. The question for us is, what kingdom do we choose to serve and why?

Many of us have friends and family that are in need of God's love and grace. We pray for them for months before going home for a holiday, anniversary, or some other event that brings us back together and often find ourselves in conflict over spiritual things. Why? Because our witness is in conflict with their lifestyle, tradition, politics, or they think we are hypocrites because they have known us most of our lives. They are closed off the message of God's mercy and simply discount the message of real hope found in Jesus. Well, we are not alone. Jesus had a rough homecoming too.
