GROW Questions:   

1. How would you describe the zeitgeist or spirit of 21st-century America?   

2. In what way(s) is that spirit "blocking" the spirit of God in your life and/or in our culture?   

3. Is the "spirit" of your faith more accurately characterized as refusing to do harm to another or actively seeking the other's good?

3. How does the thought that God may be more generous, forgiving and merciful than you ever imagined to you and others (especially, your enemies) affect you?

2. Have you bowed down to a "carved image?"  Either a false god or an image of God that is false?

3. Has anyone been hurt or mistreated or gone without so that you could get what you wanted?

1. What specifically do you want/need to be saved from? What do you really believe about Him and salvation?

2. Is your expression of justice, mercy, and humility evidence that you are part of His alternative kingdom?

3. What personal sacrifices do you need to make to not just be forgiven for but rid of sin?

4. What will it look like for you to rise to new life?

1. Do you think American evangelicalism is, by-and-large, an alternative community controlled by the alternative consciousness of God or has it become the static-triumphalistic religion that justifies politics of oppression and economics of affluence?

2. Have you become so satiated by economic affluence that you are either unable or unwilling to acknowledge injustices that you directly benefit from?

3. Have you been baptized into the alternative kingdom of Christ?
