It is the 23rd April 1899. Holmes is in a philosophical mood as he watches the rain falling outside. A cab pulls up outside the front door and a giant of a man gets out. On entering he has a sorry tale to tell about how he has lost his young wife and his money and he wants to hire Holmes to get them back, but Holmes feels the case is too simple and hands it over to Watson.

Section 42B the quarters of the Polaris unit. Inside Cadet Tom Corbett, tall curly haired boy of eighteen is dictating a letter in to the audio writer. Nearby, Cadet Astro the second member of the Polaris Unit listens intently to earphones as a study school whirls in the study machine droning out a lesson in astrogation. And the third member of the Polaris Unit Cadet Roger Manning idly contemplates his collection of pinups. Cadet life is quiet and routine on the space academy campus but then the intercom crackles in to life….

The Blacksmith informed Brit that the previous night in Clay City the Fargo Station had been held up and a man left dead. Brit decided to go and see his old friend the sheriff.

This is an early show set in the same Café Tambourine but this time in Istanbul. Rocky and his friend Duke get information from the British Embassy on the movements of Nazis in the area. Turkey has joined the Allies in the war against the Axis powers and Rocky (and Pettigrew of the British Embassy) think something is 'cooking' amongst Germans in the locale passing themselves off as neutrals. So will they be able to work together or will old rivalries get in the way?

In the storyline the true identity of Superman was closely guarded by the producers. If any of the peripheral characters discovered that Clark Kent was Superman they always ended up being killed of either by accident or by disaster. This situation was also mirrored in the real world. It wasn’t until 1946, six years into the run, that listeners discovered that Clayton Bud Collyer played the part of Superman.
