Before we get started.. lets all wish, skateboarding LEGEND- Marty Grimes. A very, Happy Birthday! Salute to the quadruple-OG, Z-boy. Los Angeles finest. The King of Kings. First African-American professional skateboarder. Mans is a national treasure, that should be protected at ALL costs. He’s here- today.. On the mighty, mighty WCRP on Skateboarding. All praises due!!
Tune in, as Marty talks growing up & skating LA in the ‘70s. Opens up about his family, and their Southern roots. His Mother naming him, after her childhood friend- Dr. Martin Luther King. Early surfing background. Discusses his first skateboarding experience. Making boards with his brother Clyde, and their OND Crew. We talk finding your own style, Chuck Askerneese & all things skateboarding!!
I cannot begin to thank this gentleman enough.. A true pioneer, and an absolute honor spending time talking. This really, made my whole life great. Thank you, Marty. I truly mean it.
