The North Dakota State Bison women's basketball team continued their success at home Jan. 12 with a decisive win over Denver. The Bison men notched a win, too, their fourth straight.

UND hockey hasn't lost a game since December third. The Fighting Hawks were just .500 going into the holiday break with a conference record of 3-5-2. Now, heading into the second half of the season, the team's chemistry is starting to click.

The Spuds are looking to build on last year's section title.

"Last year it was like we made it. It was kind of a sigh of relief that we made it." said senior guard Jaden Griffin. "This year we have to keep our edge and want to get better so we can win the games at state."

On Sunday, North Dakota State lost a Division I FCS national championship game. On Monday, it appears the Bison lost their defensive coordinator.

Braun reportedly will take the same position with Northwestern of the Big Ten Conference, according to ESPN's Adam Rittenberg.

The Bison (12-3) lost in an FCS title game for the first time in 10 tries. NDSU was 9-0 in Frisco prior to Sunday's setback. The Jackrabbits won their first national championship and also defeated NDSU for the first time in the postseason.

The Southland Conference hoped that when they won the right to host the FCS Championship Game in 2010 in Frisco, Texas, it would open up the door for its league to get to the top of the subdivision.

A decade and a half later, the Missouri Valley Football Conference has sent more teams to the title game than where the Southland offices are located. Sunday the Valley will send a team to the championship for a 12th straight year. Even better, it's the second all-Valley title game.

Two decades after NDSU and SDSU made the move to Division 1, they will share the biggest spot of the sport.

When Hunter Brozio arrived on campus at North Dakota State in August of 2019, he was prepared for a football career in the shadows. Brozio was recruited out of Lake Gibson High School in Florida to be a long snapper.

A funny thing happened to his career out of the spotlight. Brozio's athleticism got him noticed. When starting fullback Hunter Luepke was out of the NDSU lineup with a shoulder injury to begin the spring season in February of 2021, Brozio got his chance.

The NDSU Bison football team is set to face against South Dakota State in the FCS Finals on Sunday, Jan. 8th in Frisco, Texas.
