It's another top 20 matchup in FCS football this weekend as #20 UND hosts #1 SDSU.

Prep began earlier this week as UND is coming off of it's bye week, riding a two-game win streak. UND is excited for the opportunity to face the top team in the country inside the Alerus Center, where UND have won 17 of their 18 home games.

Phoenix Sproles has played his last down for the North Dakota State football team.

Sproles announced Monday night on Twitter that he will redshirt this season with the intention to enter the transfer portal.

South Dakota State may be getting one of the best players in FCS back for the biggest game of the year. Standout tight end Tucker Kraft may play against North Dakota State according to head coach John Stiegelmeier.

Kraft reportedly suffered a high ankle sprain in the season opener at the University of Iowa. He hinted at his return earlier this week in a tweet on his personal Twitter account. Stiegelmeier put an end to any speculation on Thursday morning.

Saturday will be the biggest football game played in the history of the building.

Redshirt freshman receiver Gage Florence is quickly becoming a favorite target for MSUM football this season.

"I think he plays with a chip on his shoulder and he's got a deep-rooted belief in himself that he can make plays and that he's open every time," said MSUM coach Steve Laqua.

It doesn't happen often, but NDSU football will try to snap a two-game losing streak to another team on Saturday. The last two years, South Dakota State has held NDSU to fewer than 20 points in their meetings.

Once again, the Dakota Marker will beone of the toughest tests of the season for the Bison. It's a battle between top-ranked NDSU and second-ranked SDSU inside the FargoDome on Saturday.

Fargo Davies got goals from four different players to cruise to victory in the quarterfinals of the North Dakota state boys soccer tournament Thursday at Essentia Health Packer Stadium.

Davies cruised to a 6-0 victory against Bismarck Century to advance to the state semifinals. Savey Jones and Dylan Pritchard each scored two goals for the Eagles. Davies is set to play Bismarck Legacy at 4:30 p.m. Friday in the semifinals. Legacy earned a 4-1 victory against Fargo Shanley in the opening round.

The news that came in this week that Sheyenne's soccer team would have to forfeit its entire season because an ineligible player played was a gut punch to a program still reeling from a couple years ago when they had to be removed from the state tournament after a positive COVID test.

With would-be EDC two-seed Sheyenne ineligible for the state boys soccer tournament after forfeiting regular season matches, updated standings move West Fargo to the no. 2 spot and Shanley to the three seed.

The Deacons originally missed the state tournament and thought their season ended a week ago. They assembled the team for their first practice to prepare for a quarterfinal match against Bismarck Legacy Thursday.

With the news of Noah Gindorff's season-ending injury, the list of injured NDSU football players continues to grow. The veterans on the Bison defensive line have also been riddled with injuries.

First it was junior defensive tackle Eli Mostaert with a broken fibula. Now, defensive end Jake Kava is dealing with a left pectoral injury, leaving some younger talent to step up in their absence.
