For this comeback episode of WCR, my brother and I talk about all the things first-year uni students tend to worry about before moving in like messy roommates or staying organized with schoolwork. Expect some good advice and tons of sibling banter lol.
Enjoy! Xx
The popular series "Grand Army" was released in 2020 following the lives of five teenagers attending a Brooklyn high school. This series is super up to date with cases like Covid 19, homophobia, rape, systemic racism, and other current issues. This week's commentary presents Rachel and me breaking down some key moments in the show for yall. Grand Army is very relatable and I hope you guys enjoy our take on it. XO!
This episode embodies the phrase "The good ole days". Fellow podcaster @Thatssomatthew and I talk about old Disney Channel shows and reminisce about our childhoods before high school came to ruin it all lol. This is the first collab I've ever done with another podcaster and it's out the day after my one-year WCR anniversary. Nostalgia, nostalgia, nostalgia. Enjoy! XO
Nowadays with Zoom and DMs being super accessible, it's easier than ever to share info about others' lives and your own. Hearing rumors made about you most of the time feels MUCH worse than making them about others. In this episode, Cat and I talk about the implications of gossiping, misconceptions about gossiping, gender differences, friendship groups, and so much more... Enjoy! XO
In this episode, Jihan and I talk about whitewashing in society and how it impacts minority teenagers. Jihan and I share our stories about maintaining our cultures despite living in western countries. We also talk about stereotypes, cinema, culture and so much more. Enjoy! XO
As teenagers, it's very normal for us to comply with norms and trends for all the wrong reasons. Cosmetic surgery is super popular and normalized nowadays by celebrities and "normal people" (lol) alike. So, in this episode, Isabel and I wanted to shed light on different opinions surrounding procedures. We talk about "botched" surgeries, pressuring, beauty standards, celebrities, confidence, and so much more. Enjoy! XO
Substance abuse amongst teenagers is a topic that has been explored for many years with studies showing that 1 in 5 teens have abused prescription medication, and millions of teenagers are struggling with this issue. Zeno and I are both a part of our school's drug prevention group so we wanted to shed light on this prominent issue. We talk about addiction, peer pressure, getting help and so much more. Enjoy! XO
Doing exercise is extremely important for your health, especially with all the stress of being a high school student. As we are getting out of the pandemic and sports are now available we can focus more on it. For this episode, I'm joined by sports enthusiast Robert Lessiak who shares his own experiences and gives advice for teens who want to exercise more. Enjoy! XO
Colorism is the prejudice or discrimination against someone based on the darkness of their skin. This is inherent within many communities and society itself. Both Ananya and I have experienced colorism and understand the struggles minorities can face with this issue. Although some might not consider it as "serious" as many other issues minorities face, it is important to talk about it, as it can perpetuate a lot of negative stereotypes and encourage insecurities. I hope you guys learn something from this episode, Enjoy! XO
Culture shock is something that is experienced by people of all ages. Since the start of the pandemic and the multiple lockdowns, culture shock has taken a new meaning. As we are slowly getting out of lockdown I've invited Heraldo, a student who moved to my school mid-lockdown to talk about his experience. In this episode, we cover integration, language barriers, international environments, and of course; culture shock. Enjoy! XO
