We DIG Community tells the stories of the people and organizations behind our Service Made Social mission. In this episode we sit down with Marcus Cantu, who is Resource Services Director at Partnerships for Children.
Our Austin community has teamed up with Partnerships for Children on a number of occasions, and we have truly enjoyed volunteering with this awesome nonprofit organization. They serve youth and families involved with child protective services all around Austin, and the city is truly better off because of their work! We discuss how Marcus arrived at the organization and what his role looks like today, and we also get more information about the organization’s work as a whole.
Marcus also sheds some light on this very important area of need and what challenges are facing the foster care system at this moment in time. We hope you enjoy our conversation with Marcus Cantu, friend and partner of CB Austin!

We DIG Community tells the stories of the people and organizations behind our Service Made Social mission. In this episode, we speak to Brad Reubendale, the Executive Director of SAME Cafe in Denver, CO.
Brad is the energetic and passionate leader of SAME Cafe, Denver’s first nonprofit restaurant. Their donation-based, fair exchange model ensures everyone can enjoy this healthy, locally sourced and chef-crafted food, regardless of ability to pay.
Brad sheds light on his own personal journey, shares the story behind SAME Cafe and explains how we arrived there in his professional career. Also, we discuss the connection between food and community, along with the importance of dignity and respect in the nonprofit sector. You’ll love all the nuggets of insight and wisdom from Brad!
Community Bucket Denver has partnered with SAME Cafe in the past, and many of our local farming partners actually supply produce to their kitchens. We are proud to support this local organization reimagining the restaurant space and innovating new solutions to food access.

We DIG Community tells the stories of the people and organizations behind our Service Made Social mission. In this episode we speak to Matthew Gattozzi, who is one of our project leaders in Austin, TX.
Matt is an entrepreneur and content maven who runs his own agency called Goodo Studios. There, he helps direct-to-consumer brands that want to convert viewers into customers through engaging content.
He discovered Community Bucket shortly prior to the pandemic, after returning from overseas nonprofit work and looking to get involved in the impact space locally. He was able to quickly dive into our community and joined the Austin host team, where he has been a true asset to our organization and to those organizations and people we serve! In this episode, we talk to Matt about his personal journey of impact and storytelling, dive into a few of his passions, and get the low-down on what it’s been like to get involved in the CB-sphere in Texas, and throughout the pandemic!

We DIG Community tells the stories of the people and organizations behind our Service Made Social mission. In this episode we speak to Adrienne Sherwood, friend of Community Bucket and one of our Atlanta sponsors.
Adrienne is founder and lead agent at Cultivate Real Estate, where she helps people put down roots and become better neighbors through investing in their first home, and beyond. Adrienne has been involved in CB since the very first event, so she has seen the organization grow and evolve over the years. We are thrilled to have her company’s support for our work - their funding helps fuel greater impact and keep us sustainable, so we can keep the Bucket train running, and more importantly, thriving.
You may have the choice of many real estate agents when exploring the home buying or selling process, but we hands down can say Adrienne is top notch. We choose our partners carefully, finding people who share our values and our love for giving back locally. Adrienne is right up there, and she’d love to hear from you if you’re a fan of CB.
We enjoyed our conversation with Adrienne and learning about how her passion for real estate emerged, and how she’s continued to build on that as she grows her business and cultivates stronger roots across the city.

We DIG Community tells the stories of the people and organizations behind our Service Made Social mission. In this episode we speak to Hannah Dewey, one of our local Host Team leaders in Denver.
Hannah stumbled upon Community Bucket in February 2020, and she was able to join us shortly before our events were halted during the Covid lockdowns. Fortunately, Hannah was able to keep getting involved during that time, leading a crew for our Impact Where You Live initiative last April & May. Given her professional focus on event marketing, Hannah was able to jump in and organize several events with our team, ranging from a fundraiser 5k to a virtual cooking class.
We enjoyed hearing from Hannah what it was like to find CB as a new volunteer and then get involved throughout the pandemic, why she keeps coming back and telling others to do the same, and what’s filling her time these days outside of work and Community Bucket. We hope you enjoy this conversation with Hannah Dewey!

We DIG Community tells the stories of the people and organizations behind our Service Made Social mission. In this episode we speak to Kelly Bradley, the newest member of our staff and our Summer Program Manager.
Kelly joined our team in April, to help this Summer with our FeedATL initiative. Kelly has a unique background in both event management and nonprofits. She is deeply committed to her community and is a long-time believer in the power of people to make local change that lasts. Before joining us, she spearheaded an all-volunteer initiative to sew thousands of masks for frontline workers at the start of the pandemic.
In this episode, we speak to Kelly about what her early days in this new role have looked like, and we also dive into the details for what’s coming up with our FeedATL projects. Kelly is extremely knowledgeable about food and farming, having grown up in a farming family in Georgia. She will bring those insights to the events and help make the experiences memorable and meaningful for everyone. We hope you enjoy the energy and passion she brings to the conversation!

We DIG Community tells the stories of the people and organizations behind our Service Made Social mission. In this episode we sit down with Robby Astrove, who is the park ranger at Arabia Mountain just outside of Atlanta, GA.
Robby has deep roots (literally and figuratively) in the city, where he is an ardent arborist and foraging fanatic. His ties in the nonprofit sector include Trees Atlanta, Concrete Jungle and more. While Robby works professionally as a park ranger, he also helps lead a number of fruit tree and gleaning-related initiatives for the community. This includes his latest event, Serviceberry Fest ATL, which takes place on June 3rd.
Robby has led several Community Bucket groups through the trails and open space of Arabia Mountain over the years, and his projects are never to be missed. We really enjoyed speaking with Robby about all things community, plants and trees, and we hope you like what he has to say as well!

We DIG Community tells the stories of the people and organizations behind Community Bucket’s Service Made Social mission. In this episode, we speak with Kat Jarvis and Kate Edell, two of our local leaders in Denver, CO.
Kat was the first member of our Founding Team in 2018 and led our Host Team in 2019, followed by Kate who took over as Host Team Manager in 2020. Both of them are transplants to Denver (who isn’t?) who found Community Bucket early on in their tenure in the new city. We discuss what initially sparked their interest in the organization, what it’s been like to help grow this community from the early stages in Denver, and how they’ve each benefited on a personal level. Plus, we dive into what they’ve been up to through Covid and how Community Bucket Denver plans to gain momentum in the coming months.

We DIG Community tells the stories of the people and organizations behind Community Bucket’s Service Made Social mission. In this episode, we are joined by Ian Grossman, founder of our Austin community.
Ian is a former elementary school educator, a real estate agent, Jesse’s brother and the one who initiated our presence in Austin, TX. Ian was at our very first event in 2012 - he may have been dragged there by Jesse - but it planted a seed for him to be part of Community Bucket’s later evolution. We talk to Ian about his experience in starting a new community, we learn about his passion for the city of Austin, and we dig into his work as a real estate agent in the wildest housing market in the country.
