In this episode, Jacob and Kailee sit down in person with Abby Drach, founder of Kuvetta Athletic, a women’s athletic apparel brand built for strong bodies and endurance sport.

Abby shares how Kuvetta came to life from a vision she had at a young age and how her background as a Nordic skier at Dartmouth shaped the way she designs apparel. She talks about creating pieces that actually move with muscles, fit powerful legs and shoulders, and still let women express style through bold prints, florals, and personality.

You will hear the real behind the scenes of building a small business from scratch, including Abby’s early days sewing over 2,000 face masks during COVID, making thousands of pieces on a home sewing machine, and eventually expanding into a network of US based contract sewers to keep production local. She opens up about slow growth, what marketing wins actually do and do not change overnight, what it was like having a pop up storefront in Boulder, and why in person connection has been one of the biggest drivers of the brand.

In Part 2 of When the Coach Gets Coached, Jacob sits down with his coach, Matt Welch, at one of the hardest points of a training cycle right after illness and right before a decision.

What starts as a simple training update turns into a deep and honest conversation about sickness, burnout, motivation, and the emotional weight that comes with chasing big goals. Jacob opens up about feeling deflated, questioning whether he even wants to race, and wrestling with the fear of letting his coach down. Alex shares her sobriety story, what has shaped her mission, and how Lucille’s grew from pop ups and tastings into a retail space and eventually into what she is most passionate about now: mobile events and experiences that help people connect for real. We also talk about the behind the scenes reality of small business ownership, learning what actually gives you energy, and having the courage to refine your vision instead of doing a little bit of everything.

We dig into the gray area that a lot of people live in: wanting to drink less while still navigating family gatherings, friendships built around drinking, and social pressure.
