By the end of the STEP ONE era, Steps had cemented themselves as a pop-force not to be messed with. In Australia they had already achieved 4 Top 10 singles (including #1 with 5,6,7,8), Top 5 platinum selling debut album and had sold over half a million singles and albums combined.
Mid 1999 saw the second album era kick into gear, and while in the UK they were going from strength-to-strength (#1 album and a record breaking arena tour), here in Australia things were not looking as bright.
