Here we have 3 films that are exceptionally difficult to watch for most movie-goers. The House That Jack Built, The Nightingale, and Super Dark Times each have their own take on death, trauma, and well more death. Tune in at your own discretion as Aidan and Jamie take a deep dive into the themes and stories that shape these films. And if you do decide to watch any of them (particularly The House That Jack Built and The Nightingale) be sure to be aware of your surroundings including those you're living with as they might stumble into a nightmare.

Are you the type of person who takes their car to the shop for everything instead of fixing it yourself? Have you ever wondered what it's actually like to be a car guy? If so, then this is the episode for you. Aidan and Jamie invite first time guest and good friend, Zak Bendaga (of @BendagasGarage on YT) to cover some of the nuances associated with the representation of cars in film. Hang on tight as we put the pod into 5th gear and beat Vin Diesel's ugly ass to the finish line.

Poverty in the US can look quite different depending on which state you're standing in. This is why Aidan and Jamie have chosen three films each taking place in a different region in the US to cover the experience of growing up poor as an American. The Florida Project (2017) taking place in Florida obviously, Raising Victor Vargas (2002) has the NYC lens, and Beasts of the Southern Wild (2012) gives a look at the Katrina era Louisiana. Listen in as we discuss, review, and differentiate these films and their approach to covering life in the American lower socioeconomic class.

In light of her most recent performance, Aidan and Jamie decided to have an episode dedicated to Frances McDormand. Her acting ability is perhaps best seen in her portrayal of the everyday American citizen especially in blue collar/low socioeconomic groups. Tune in for discussion around her career as the boys review Nomadland (2020) and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri (2017).

“I sure hope that old lady was wrong. About death not being the end of it.” Prison is rough but damn does it make for some great films. Aidan and Jamie review Shot Caller (2017), Un Prophet (2009), Rescue Dawn (2006). Grab a couple drinks and listen in for some rants and discussion by a couple guys who love prison films (yes, we're still genre neutral).

Turns out Soul (2020) is just Pixar's addition to the Barbershop saga and that's exactly what we didn't know we wanted. Run (2020) brings a disabled element to the thriller genre... you're gonna want your WD-40 for this one. The last film on this episode is Silence (2016), Scorsese's Catholic ninja epic that failed miserably. Music, punk rock, the art of drumming - there's some sort of Venn diagram going on with this episode but we'll let you be the judge.
