In this episode, Drew continues his series on the responsibility of a Gospel preacher by looking at Peter and his preaching. After his incredible sermon on the Day of Pentecost, Peter then preached Christ again and was able to withstand the persecution. Will Gospel preachers today have the conviction to preach the Word “in season and out of season” (2 Tim. 4:2)?

In this episode, Drew discusses a touching scene between Peter and Jesus. Peter denied Jesus three times, but the Lord gave him a chance at redemption by allowing him to convey his love for Him three times. When the Lord gives us an open door to redemption, do we take it?

In this episode, Drew explains the difference between worldly sorrow and godly sorrow. After Peter denied Jesus three times, he exhibited true repentance and godly sorrow as he “wept bitterly.” This kind of heart and remorse shown is exactly what God is looking for in our hearts today. Its godly sorrow that leads to salvation (2 Cor. 7:10). When we mess up, are we sorry just because “we get caught” or are we sorry that we hurt God?

In this episode. Drew discusses a very low point in the life of Peter. After saying that he was ready to die for Jesus, Peter, when pressured, denied Jesus three times. It all started with Peter “following Jesus at a distance” (Luke 22:54). Are we following Jesus closely or are we following Him at a distance?

In this episodes, Drew goes through the scene when both Jesus and Peter walked on water. When Peter, by faith, stepped out of the boat and kept his eyes on Jesus, he was able to walk on water! When he took his eyes off of Jesus, he began to sink. Jesus then said to Peter, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” In our walk with the Lord, are we “walking or sinking?”

In this episode, Drew breaks down the scene when Peter made the great confession as he recognized Jesus as Lord. When one comes to that conclusion based on concrete evidence (John 20:30-31), it comes at a price. Peter would learn this as he matured in his faith, but do we grasp the price of recognizing Jesus as Lord?

In this episode, Drew works through Luke’s account of when four fishermen were called as Disciples. After Jesus telling Peter to “launch out into the deep” which was meant literally, but there there was also a metaphorical sense in which Peter was to have faith in Jesus and become a “fisher of men.” Will we be willing to “forsake our nets” and “launch out into the deep?”

In this episode, Drew discusses the moment when Peter decided to follow Jesus. There is no way that he could have known the journey in which he was about to embark, but we have the blessing of tracing his life through the pages of the New Testament. The application is that Peter “left his life behind” to follow Jesus. What about us?
