The month of June is important for the awareness of Alzheimer's and Elder Abuse. We're hosting Annie Murphy, Program Manager of the RI Chapter/Alzheimer Association and Deb Burton, Executive Director of RI Elder Info, to provide the details. June is Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month (ABAM) and June 15th is designated as World Elder Abuse Day. Annie and Deb are teaming up to provide support and resources to both communities. ALZ.org/ri provides education and support to all those facing Alzheimer’s and other dementias throughout our community, including those living with the disease, caregivers, health care professionals and families, Together, we can #ENDALZ!". Listen as Annie explains the difference between Alzheimer's disease and Dementia. Deb gives us a rundown of resources for the elder community and their caregivers at the website rielderinfo.com, because "Information is power and no one should struggle to live a healthy, safe, dignified and happy life from a lack of it". She and Annie have valuable advice for the many questions and dilemma's facing those in the community. They'll be joining forces on June 26th in Scituate RI for an in-person FREE presentation; “Understanding Alzheimer’s & Dementia” and “Community Resources for Seniors & Caregivers”.
