South Carolina has seen a number of local bars and restaurants close due to increasing liability insurance rates caused by excessive legal costs. Tort reform is one of the top issues the SC General Assembly is considering this session. We visit with Lt Governor Pamella Evette to discuss what the Governor’s office would like to see happen and also joining is Matt Wills, VP of Government Affairs, for the Greenville Chamber to offer his insights form a business perspective. Finally, Chris Smith, with the SC Bar and Tavern Association, is with us to talk about the work his organization is doing to insure the legislature passes tort reforms that will lead to lower insurance costs and a healthier business environment.
