On this episode of the podcast we dive deep into European Volleyball and talk to Flavia Knutti, a professional volleyball player hailing from Dudingen, Switzerland.  She’s a libero who’s played for Dudingen, Fribourg, and in the United States at Northwestern Ohio University.  And she’s on the Swiss National Team!  She grew up in an athletic family, her mother Myriam is a professor of sports and her dad Bruno is a sports coach for Hockey and Beach volleyball!

My sister joins me as we debate whether Mamma Mia 1 or Mamma Mia 2 is a better film and then we're joined by Elana Lantry who from San Diego, to the cold winters of Michigan, and then to New York City where she lives in an amazing Brooklyn townhouse now, she has circulated all over the US to pursue her love of theatre administration.  Currently in Development in the New York office of a prominent London theatre company, she’s still working during COVID to find funding for the arts.  Last year she ran the NY Marathon, her first marathon in record time and she loves all things Mamma Mia, National Treasure, The Bachelor, and pug related.

In this episode we talk about the stresses of the holidays and how one woman moves past them living abroad.  A professional volleyball player currently living it up in Switzerland, Rachel Giustino is anything but ordinary.  Hailing from Illinois and from Murray State with 1,764 total kills (when you hit the volleyball over the net and get a point), this queen of the court was the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year and an honorable mention All-American by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.  This Outside Hitter comes from a family of athletes, her dad, Gerard, played pro baseball after also being a college athlete.  She eventually wants to become a dentist and after graduating from college last year, she experienced the graduation within the shut down!

It was only when she took a holistic approach that she started to experience a shift.  This is led her on a journey to turn her life-long passion of health and wellness into her profession. She became a certified health coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and Registered 200-hours as a Yoga Instructor.  We’re so excited to talk to her about her life and business today in bringing the mind, body and soul in balance for better health and optimal wellness.

Andrea Bunn is a third through fifth grade humanities teacher in Alameda, up in the Bay area of California, who’s currently the Union rep at her school.  She’s now planning how to restart the school year in the fall with COVID still on the horizon, and we’re hearing from this teacher on her perspective.  Andrea is originally from San Diego and she attended UCSB, where she majored in Spanish and minored in Educational Studies. She went on to attend Mills College and obtain her multiple subjects teaching credential.  She’s bilingual in Spanish, spending time in Barcelona and Nicaragua and when she’s not teaching she’s enjoying yoga, puzzles, and  time outdoors.  We’re so excited to have her on today!

Mary Hendra is a Los Angeles based program director at Facing History in Ourselves where she serves over a thousand schools reaching five hundred thousand students each year in Southern California. She recently started move with Grace a unique Master Class designed to find Clarity and regain power in our world Through Stillness creativity and community. She is also a part of the leadership team of elevate LA and active facilitator for a next big idea book group and runs an amazing podcast book club where we first met and she also spent time in what was then the Soviet Union with a family of four generations of women.
