Drums and percussion are solely generated by Operator instances. Drone is Granulator 3 and Bass is Collision I think. No arrangement, just raw jam recording.

This is the first track I created on the MCP1000 I'm restoring/modding.

I've never used MPC's before so i don't feel so flexible on it yet, but I think I'll like the device.

It's really the first 'pure' sampler I've ever had, since everything else on the market does so much, the mpc1000 at a high level is very simple... it's a sampler. Not a Daw, no internal synths, only a few effects that sounds pretty bad,. It samples and arranges.

I then exported the track as a single wav into Ableton, and added some extra layers and candy to it, which much like the m8, just feels easier to do in Ableton.

A very early one this time! This is a kind of collab with the person who supervised my PhD project, who ultimately acted as one of my promotors. As you can imagine, we have been collaborators for a while, but not on the musical front. Until recently, that is. My collaborator is a guitar player (mostly jazz, improv, as far as I understood) but got into modular synthesis some years ago. He acquired a few interesting systems, including a Eurorack version of the Buchla 200 series. A few months ago I visited him and we were playing around with it a bit, trying to do a jam with my Dirtywave m8 and his Buchla system. We didn't really manage to get things entirely in sync, so we ended up just sampling some interesting noises that we created on the Buchla. He sent me over those samples and I started working on something.

So that was months ago. Yesterday I was playing with the small stub I had going and one thing led to another. I agreed with my collaborator that this would be my next weekly beats submission.

So, the track opens with some sliced samples from the Buchla system. Most of the other stuff comes from the m8 synths and some samples.

A woozy journey across sympathetic resonance, distortion and fragmented sounds.  Finally made it back to my home studio after being on a road trip across the US and Canada for 9 weeks.  It's good to be back with my old trusty gear. Got some new firmware for the Chase Bliss Lost+Found Pedal and tried out the new settings.
