Hi friends.

I had more time to work on music this week! I recently watched a production video that talked about how your process determines the kind of music and sounds you'll make. The key point of the video was if you want to make something radically different, you should try changing your process.
My process this week was to make heavy use of the m8 sampler and the quick render feature to bounce sections to samples. I started with a vocal sample and spent a bunch of time processing it into an echo-ey pad. I then experimented with layering different versions of the same vocal pad and various effects. The rest of the track kinda flowed from there. I had a lot of fun getting lost in the sounds and adding variation to different sections. Some other unsorted thoughts:
- the mix might be little loud - would love any feedback if you notice anything overly harsh
- I lost the key of the sample after processing it, and tried to pick out a scale by ear. I landed with F#min for the melodic bits. Feels a little weird maybe but seems like it works
- I didn't spend a ton of time thinking about chords or bass. Not sure if that detracts from the composition, but it didn't feel like the track needed it. There is just one chord in used throught the whole track!
- the m8 sampler is really solid. I should use quick render more often
Overall I'm pretty happy with how this turned out.
Thanks for listening!
